Armoury Crate showing wrong motherboard

So, in the updates section, and in the side menu, it shows my old motherboard (ROG Strix Z690-E).  In the actual device menu, it shows the proper new motherboard (ROG MAXIMUS z790 Dark Hero).  Is there a fix for this aside from completely removing the program and reinstalling?  Is it even something I should worry about?  Is it actually downloading the correct motherboard software and its just a visual bug?  Or is it really downloading updates for the old motherboard and applying them to the new one?

So, I decided to try the armoury crate uninstall tool, then reinstalled AC just in case.  Everything is working perfect.  So all it needed was needing was a clean install of AC.  It was more than likely just a visual bug, but its nice to have it fixed none the less.

Did you swap out the motherboard without reinstalling the OS?

Correct.  I didnt reinstall the OS.  I just swapped the motherboard.  Everything went great other than this one weird thing.

Generally speaking, you should always reinstall Windows when you change the motherboard. Doing so should fix your issue. Pretty sure, this is not the only issue you will face under the circumstances (if you don't reinstall).

Never had an issue before in my many years of PC building.  And, everything is working great other than this one issue.  I saw on reddit others faced the same issue and it cleared up after a few AC updates.  I was more asking if there was a known solution that didnt require waiting for the right update to fix it, or reinstalling AC.  I was also curious if anyone knew if it was just a visual bug in the menu or if it was actually downloading the software for the wrong board.  Because if its just a visual bug, Ill ignore it.

In the past, critical errors were virtually a certainty if you tried it, and if you insist to keep doing it this way, I'd still recommend that you perform backups next time just in case. In recent years, Microsoft has made it possible to swap out the motherboard without reinstalling Windows, but it isn't by any means the suggested method. If concerns about the license activation is the reason you are doing this, then it is best to contact MS for more details, you are likely to only require a reactivation. Hope that helps.

Ok, I am not asking if you think I should reinstall windows.  I dont feel like spending the next 3 days not working and instead getting my OS all setup the way I want it.  Registry edits, windows mods, etc.  What I am asking is:

Is there was a known solution that doesn't require waiting for the right update to fix it, or reinstalling AC.  I am also curious if anyone knows if its just a visual bug in the menu or if it is actually downloading the software for the wrong board.  I am guessing its just a visual bug, considering I still have full control over the motherboard and the proper motherboard menu when I actually go into the device screen.  If its just a visual bug, Ill likely ignore it.

Sorry I can only provide the solution which is most likely to resolve your issue. In case your next strategy is to edit the registry or delete Armoury Crate files manually, keep in mind that generally leads to more trouble for those who have tried it (which leads to a Windows reinstall anyway).

If no other issues are apparent, then I don't see why you can't continue to use the PC as is. However, I would suggest to back up important files just in case, and unfortunately, we cannot provide any further support unless the provided actions are taken. Armoury Crate software was never programmed nor tested to work as intended under such conditions.

I wasnt expecting official support.  I posted in the forums hoping someone in the community had information or had dealt with a similar if not the same issue before.  I could do the same thing on reddit where I see other people have talked about the same issue (one person even had the issue go away on its own after an update), but I thought I would check the official ROG forums first.

And no, I hadnt intended on editing the registry or files regarding armoury crate.  My comment about registry edits is in the context of reinstalling windows.  I have a lot of custom settings and customization to my OS that would take a very long time to redo.  And as far as file back up, my files are stored on a separate drive from my os.
