790 hero bios temp

My cpu package temperature in Bios starts out at about 44c and very slowly rises to about 50c just sitting in EZ display mode.

In windows, I am idling at maybe 34c.

Is this a normal occurrence?

I am using a Corsair h150i with 6 fans in push/pull. The fans and pump appear to be running in bios, but maybe they are not being fully controlled since icue isn't loaded in bios?

I don't really see any thermal issues in windows, just seems strange to me that the temps are much higher in bios idle. Using the latest December bios update.

I have heard that temps can run higher in bios due to less optimisations but I was hoping someone with more knowledge could help alleviate my worries.

The UEFI always puts a small load on the CPU, so this is expected and nothing to be concerned about 👍

Hello, @kpeklund91

Could you please confirm if there are any abnormalities in your system usage, such as lagging or BSOD, besides monitoring temperatures?
If no unusual patterns exist, the hardware temperatures will normally fluctuate based on your usage behaviors, power consumption, and cooling efficiency.

Thank you.

I have yet to experience any issues while in windows. I occasionally get temp spikes of about 10c (were talking mere seconds) from 30c to 40 or so but then quickly falls back to 30.

I just thought it odd to see higher idle temps in BIOS than windows but I have been hearing it can be a common thing.
