11900k and Maximus Hero XIII CPU Temp issues

Diregrim

Latest Bios. XMP1 everything else on auto or default. Went from 10th generation CPU to 11900k on the same board. Moved SSD to M2.1 slot. Using XD7 Corsair waterblock XD5 pump, radiator push and pull fans.. CPU idles between 52-70 degrees. CPU package temp is always above 66 degrees. Reapplied thermal paste 3 times. I'm at a loss as to why I am getting the high temps.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Diregrim

High idle temp could point to poor contact between the water block and cpu.

Background processes or an unknown program could be putting an unusually high load on your cpu at idle, you can check this in Task Manager.

I reset the waterblock 3 times and the thermal compound covered the CPU completely. I tied a different application each time, cross, blob. pea etc. The 10th gen cpu idled at 32 degrees.

just an update, went and washed the car, came back checked Monitor and temps were all below 30 degrees. So is it safe to say something "awake" is pushing the temps. Thinking of doing a reinstall to start fresh. What do you think?

Greetings. Check your pump speeds.

13900KS / 8000 CAS36 / ROG APEX Z790 / ROG TUF RTX 4090

Running at 3000rpm. I'm thinking of moving the M2 back to a 10th gen slot. Is it possible the 11th gen location putting stress on the CPU?

Check power plan is set to balanced.

Package temp is the hottest DTS reading over a 256ms period.

Download HWInfo and check which if any cores in particular are hotter. If there's a delta of over 15c it would still suggest a mount issue.

Plan is set to balanced. Removed as much bloat as possible in task manager.

CPU temps are as follow at idle:

package - 57℃ .. 0 - 55℃.. 1 - 44℃ ..2 - 48℃ ..3 - 47℃ ..4 - 46℃ ..5 - 42℃ ..6 - 42℃ ..7 - 42℃

Icue is the issue. Shut it down and temps dropped below 29 degrees,
