Hey everyone,
I’ve been using this monitor for about a month now. Since I already own an OLED TV, I’ve been super careful with it right from the start — logo dimming and pixel shifting are on, I’ve set a black screensaver in Windows, and I usually keep brightness in a mostly dark room around 40% and contrast between 70–80% in SDR (Uniform Brightness is on).
In HDR, I have Uniform Brightness turned off, with both brightness and contrast at 80%. Despite all that, I’ve already seen image retention three times this month. It looks like thin white horizontal lines near the top or bottom of the screen (sometimes both). Each time it went away after running pixel cleaning, but the last two times I had to do it twice in a row to fix it completely. The reminder for pixel cleaning is set to every 4 or 8 hours.
I use the monitor in SDR for productivity and browsing and limit HDR mode for gaming since I read that pixels tend to die faster when are constantly in HDR mode.
I really love this monitor and don’t want to return it, but is this kind of image retention normal? My LG G4 OLED TV has been flawless for a year without anything like this happening. I bought the monitor from a German store via Amazon, but I live in Greece so I want to avoid returning it if not absolutely nessecary.
Thanks in advance to anyone who knows more about this!
