XG27AQDMG - Image Retention Issues

Person105

Over the past few months, I have had a recurring issue with image retention on my XG27AQDMG. Occasionally, when I turn the monitor on and boot up my computer, I will see artifacts of my BIOS boot logo and/or my windows login page even when each are only on-screen for a minute. Then the same thing happens to any image that is on-screen.

Specifically, the issue is rapid image retention. Even right after a pixel refresh, a bright image left on screen for just 3 minutes is enough to cause noticeably visual retention.

The only way I have found to return the monitor to a normal state is to update its firmware (even if it was already up-to-date). Doing a pixel-refresh will remove the retention, but once it is done, the bug persists and new images are quickly burnt in. Even turning the monitor off and back on again usually does not fix the issue. Just now I was able to fix the issue by unplugging the monitor, holding the power button, then turning it back on, but in the past this did not work.

I have attached a video showing how bad it is. In the video, I performed a pixel-refresh and show that a gray background looks good right after the refresh. I then open Spotify and leave it on my home page for about 3 minutes. I then switch back to the same web page I looked at before and there is obvious retention, even visible on video where it is harder to see.

This has been an issue since I purchased the monitor back in July. 2 months later in September I contacted support about the issue, and after 2 conversations was told to send my monitor in for repair. I did so and received a "fixed" one a few weeks later. Since then, the issue has re-appeared about 4 different times. Even after the recent MCM104 update which I hoped would fix this, I just had the issue come back.

Hi @Person105 ,

If you have already tried cleaning the system, resetting the display settings, and updating the firmware, and the problem still persists, we recommend that you send your monitor to the nearest ASUS service center for inspection by our professional engineers.

They will conduct a more in-depth diagnosis of your monitor and provide the most suitable solution.

Thank you.

Providing detailed device specifications (MB/CPU/GPU/PSU, etc.) and the respective driver versions, OS version, and BIOS version will help us analyze the issue more effectively.

I had this issue on V103 image retains after 1sec splash screen and every other screen after that retains same image. I do pixel clean 3 times in a row and it resolves the issue but this happens randomly.
