Trying to understand the diferent aspect ratio settings on an Asus ROG PG32UCDM OLED monitor

Hey,

I'm trying to understand what these diferent aspect ratios mean.

The monitor is 16:9 and from what I know the default setting is 16:9 Fill Up right?
The other modes - 27" and 24.5" simulation basically sets the monitor in 27" or 24.5" mode with black borders across the screen making it the screen smaller but with the same resolution - 3840x2160, is this correct so far?

While the other mode - 16:9 pixel by pixel is basically the same thing, simulating a 27" or 24.5" monitor with black borders making the screen smaller but with custom resolutions - 3288 x 1850 resolution for 27" and 2992 x 1684 resolution for 24.5"?

Then there's the Square mode in which it simulates a 4:3?

If I don't want 27" or 24.5" or 4:3 I should just select 16:9 Fill Up and it displays an 16:9 aspect ratio with full 3840x2160 resolution, the default mode in which the monitor is intended to be used?

Hi @pika112 ,

Thank you for your inquiry.

The ASUS PG32UCDM OLED monitor offers multiple aspect ratio modes, allowing you to adjust the screen ratio to suit your specific needs.

About aspect ratio modes:

  • Variety of options: You can refer to section "3.6 Supported Operation Modes" in the user manual for detailed information on the resolution and refresh rate of each aspect ratio mode.
  • Scope of influence: Adjusting the aspect ratio mode mainly affects the size of the display area and the proportion of the image, and does not change the original resolution of the display.
  • Flexible use: You can choose the most suitable aspect ratio mode based on different usage scenarios, such as watching movies, playing games, or editing images.

We recommend that you try different modes to find the setting that best suits your usage habits. Thank you.

Providing detailed device specifications (MB/CPU/GPU/PSU, etc.) and the respective driver versions, OS version, and BIOS version will help us analyze the issue more effectively.

Yes, I read the manual before posting, but I still don't know what's the default mode of the monitor - how most users use it, without resorting to custom modes.

Is it 16:9 -> Full -> Fill Up? This is 3840x2160 32" 16:9 ?

I've also asked several users but noone answered.
