Troubleshooting Tips: Dealing with Ghosting or Motion Blur on a Curved Gaming Monitor

Level 7

Hey fellow gamers!

I recently invested in a curved gaming monitor to enhance my gaming experience, and for the most part, it's been fantastic! However, I've noticed a slight issue that's been bothering me lately - ghosting and motion blur during fast-paced games. I'm sure some of you might have encountered this problem too, so I'm reaching out to seek your valuable insights and troubleshooting tips.

Here's what I'm experiencing:

When playing fast-paced games or during intense action sequences, I notice ghosting effects, where the image appears to leave a trail or blur during rapid movements.
Motion blur becomes more pronounced, making it difficult to maintain clarity during quick camera pans or swift in-game actions.
I understand that this might be a common problem with some curved gaming monitors, and I'm hoping that those of you who have faced this issue can share your knowledge and help me find a solution.

Some specific questions I have are:

Have you experienced ghosting or motion blur on your curved gaming monitor, and if so, how did you deal with it?
Are there any specific settings or configurations that you adjusted to reduce ghosting or motion blur effectively?
Are there any software solutions or gaming-specific settings that might help mitigate these issues?
Could the problem be related to the refresh rate, response time, or any other monitor specifications, and if yes, what should I be looking for while purchasing a gaming monitor to avoid or minimize these issues?
Any advice, suggestions, or personal experiences you can share would be greatly appreciated! I'm sure there are others in the gaming community who are facing similar challenges, so let's come together to find a solution and enhance our gaming experiences to the fullest.

I was looking for the new gaming monitor someone suggested me to purchage asus laptop.

Thank you all in advance for your support and expertise!

Happy gaming,

Hello, @steveanderson

May I ask what the model and connection method of the monitor you are using are, and does the issue only occur with specific games or software?
Could you please provide more detailed information about the usage scenario and also share a complete video recording of the problem for us better understand?

Thank you.

Suggest to check your system performance for the games you wish to play. Not much point in pairing a high-spec monitor with a system that can only push out 60 fps (frame per second). Make sure your system is capable of at least 100 fps in the games you play with the resolution you wish to play them on (QHD? 4k?). You may need to consider using a lower resolution to get the fps, but you also want to future-proof a little bit for when you upgrade next.

After you have established what kind of performance you're looking for, and the budget, then pick out a gaming monitor that best serves your scenario. We have many to choose from, pick ones with technologies such as G-Sync, Adaptive-Sync, or ELMB to minimize ghosting and motion blur.
