Hello everyone! I just purchased the ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDP monitor and I attempted to use the SPDIF for audio and It's not being detected. Does anyone know if the optical port is functional? I'm connecting the monitor to a Sonos Beam.

Hi @SPDDOG ,

Thank you for choosing the ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDP monitor. We understand that you're having trouble getting audio output through the SPDIF optical port.

First, we need to confirm the following:

  1. Correct connections: Ensure that both ends of the SPDIF optical cable are securely connected to the SPDIF optical ports on the monitor and Sonos Beam. Make sure the optical cable is not bent or damaged.
  2. Soundbar settings: Check that the Sonos Beam's audio input is set to optical input. Ensure the Sonos Beam's volume is turned up and is not muted.
  3. Monitor settings: Go to the monitor's settings menu and make sure the audio output is set to SPDIF. Check if any audio-related settings are turned off or adjusted.
  4. Drivers: Ensure that you have the latest display driver installed. You can download the latest driver from the ASUS website.
  5. Windows sound settings: In Windows sound settings, make sure the SPDIF output device is selected as the default output device.

If the above steps do not resolve the issue, we suggest you try the following:

  • Replace the SPDIF optical cable: Try using a different SPDIF optical cable to rule out the possibility of a faulty cable.
  • Reinstall the display driver: Try completely uninstalling and reinstalling the display driver.
  • Reset the monitor settings: Reset the monitor to factory settings.
  • Contact Sonos support: Inquire with Sonos support to see if there are any compatibility issues or other settings that need to be adjusted on the Sonos Beam.

Thank you.

Providing detailed device specifications (MB/CPU/GPU/PSU, etc.) and the respective driver versions, OS version, and BIOS version will help us analyze the issue more effectively.

Thank your for your reply.  For some reason I did not have the option to change the sound output on the monitor to SPDIF. After updating the FW on the monitor and rebooting, the sound output option is now available. I changed the output to SPDIF and now everything is functioning the way it should.
