Great display but ive come across an issue, screen will randomly go black for a couple seconds then come back on. Switched out cables and tried different ports, nothing seems to help. I am running 3 monitor setup but not sure why that would have anything to do with it. appreciate any help!

Hi @REmaster1989 ,

Thank you for providing a detailed description of the problem. Random black screens on your monitor can be quite frustrating.

Based on your situation, we recommend you try the following steps:

  • Check graphics card drivers:
  1. Update drivers: Visit the graphics card manufacturer's official website (e.g., NVIDIA, AMD) and download and install the latest graphics card drivers.
  2. Rollback drivers: If the problem persists after updating the drivers, you can try rolling back to a previous version.
  • Adjust display settings:
  1. Check refresh rate: Try lowering the refresh rate of your monitor to see if the problem goes away.
  2. Disable adaptive sync: If your monitor supports adaptive sync (such as FreeSync, G-SYNC), try turning this feature off.
  3. Reset display settings: Restore the monitor to its factory settings.
  • Check power settings:
  1. Power management: Make sure the power management settings for your monitor are correct. Avoid entering power saving mode or hibernation too quickly.
  2. Power cable: Ensure that the power cable of the monitor is securely plugged in and there is no looseness.
  • Test a single monitor:
  1. Test one by one: Connect each of the three monitors to the computer one by one to see if the problem occurs on a specific monitor.
  2. Rule out monitor issues: If the problem only occurs on one monitor, then the problem may be with that monitor itself.
  • Check display connections:
  1. Interface contact: Double-check the connections between the monitor and the computer to ensure they are securely connected.
  2. Other interfaces: If your monitor has multiple interfaces, you can try connecting to a different interface.

If the above methods do not solve the problem, we recommend that you provide the following information so that we can assist you further:

  • Graphics card model:
  • Computer operating system:
  • Solutions you have tried:
  • A video recording of the issue occurring in MP4 file format.

Thank you.

Providing detailed device specifications (MB/CPU/GPU/PSU, etc.) and the respective driver versions, OS version, and BIOS version will help us analyze the issue more effectively.

So I ended up unplugging one of my Monitors and I have not had the issue since then. Not sure what's going on but that's my current fix. Any idea why that would be the case?

Hello @REmaster1989 , regarding the occasional black screen issue on the ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDP monitor, which is resolved after disconnecting another monitor, there could be several possible reasons:

  1. GPU overload: When driving two high-resolution monitors simultaneously, the GPU may struggle to handle the load, leading to unstable display performance. Or the graphics card itself does not support multiple monitors.
  2. Driver conflicts: Conflicts with the GPU driver or other software may result in unstable refresh rates and black screen occurrences.
  3. Insufficient power supply: The power supply may not be able to provide enough power for multiple monitors, especially under high load.
  4. Differences in refresh rates and resolution settings: Different settings can cause display abnormalities. Therefore, we recommend ensuring that the GPU driver is up to date, adjusting monitor settings for consistency, or testing with a single monitor by connecting the PG32UCDP independently to the computer to observe if the black screen issue persists. If the problem persists, it may be a monitor-specific issue.

Thank you.

Providing detailed device specifications (MB/CPU/GPU/PSU, etc.) and the respective driver versions, OS version, and BIOS version will help us analyze the issue more effectively.

Did you ever find a solution? I just got my monitor from B&H, and right away I'm running into the same problem where the screen goes black, even though my pc and monitor are still running. It'll just go back up and running in a few seconds.

I did! Not sure it'll work for you but I used hdmi for my 3rd display ( not the new one). Haven't had the issue since.

there is a whole thread about the black screen  issues on the PG32**** series

https://rog-forum.asus.com/t5/gaming-monitors/pg32ucdm-black-screen-during-game-sessions/td-p/101136...

You can mitigate the issue. Most likely new firmware will be needed to correct these issues.
