ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM Random Signal Issue

staticJPL

Hello all I've recently bought the Asus PG27AQDM OLED monitor and have been blown away with it. I did find an issue after using for about 2 weeks now. Randomly while in HDR I found that my screen signal starting showing scan lines and artifacting, also the middle of the screen was split in half where the left side had more issues than the other side. It looks something similar to example below.

Example: https://v.redd.it/fx0tkn536fj81

Initially I shut off the monitor, unplugged the display port and restarted my machine, this did not solve the issue. Fortunately I did find a solution where I had to completely unplug the power cable from  the monitor and plug it back in, this fixed this issue and returned the monitor to normal. My monitor power supply cable is connected to a UPS so there isn't any grounding issues. The display port is v1.4 and is brand new as I purchased it before getting the monitor so I don't suspect any insolation, interference or cable issues.

I am wondering if I this is a common issue or is it possible that my monitor is already beginning to have issues?

Hello, @WildZippo

According to your previous responses, we couldn't determine the exact model of your current monitor.
May I ask if you are experiencing difficulties with the model of the ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM? However, the latest firmware for this model is MCM104, not 1.0.0.2.
Could you please clarify what you mean by "flickering"?
It would be helpful to provide a complete video recording of the issue, including any troubleshooting steps you've attempted and their results, to help us better understand the problem you're facing.
Could you provide the current driver and firmware versions of your monitor?
Are you using the original DP cable for the connection, and have you tried testing with an HDMI cable or using other DP ports on your graphics card for cross-testing?

Thank you.

We were talking about this right model: ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM and so I wrote in the correct section, I don't write if the topic doesn't belong to me
I know perfectly well that the latest firmware was - maybe now there's another one - MCM104, mine was the 1st with all that I ordered the monitor in April and I got it in June.

- Could you please clarify what you mean by "flickering"?
Here you are in video as happend at MANY other custoners - soon or LATER! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKFUcGSOCAY

Nothing special: Turned on the computer, surfed for an hour so I was playing League of Legends and when I used the ALT-TAB the KNOWN PROBLEM occurred which Asus can refer to on the Reddit threads: https://www.reddit.com /r/OLED_Gaming/comments/135lf3u/asus_pg27aqdm_issues_thread/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=2&utm_term=1

MCM102 and I do not update firmware, product MUST work as sold.
Also because updating the firmware can create problems and this is reported in the manual!

-Are you using the original DP cable for the connection, and have you tried testing with an HDMI cable or using other DP ports on your graphics card for cross-testing?
I used the Display Port right away because the monitor requires the one for 240hz/10bit etc, G-sync on MSI Suprim X 4080 card which is 1.5 months old since I bought it.
The problem is the same encountered by ALL, a problem that Asus did not want to solve despite being so serious as to require the suspension of production BUT given that LG already sold its monitor - panel used by Asus, let's remember, Corsair is using with its and MSI and AlienWare are seeing for their own version.
Now, the store is providing me with another model, fixing or replacing it with a new one (always the Asus PG27AQDM) and when it arrives I will assemble it and test it thoroughly and if the problem occurs again it will be sent back again, then further tested BUT for the last time.
I will decide later how to behave because the thing is ALREADY DEPLORABLE because the problem was KNOWN to ASUS - all covered up by the many positive reviews.

Hello, Jiaszzz_ROG

WildZippo and I have had this exact issue. Can Asus address what is the cause of this issue?

Hello, @WildZippo

We would recommend updating the firmware of the ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM to confirm that the problem can be resolved.
However, based on the situation you described and the details provided in the response, we would suggest contacting the ASUS  service center for further assistance.

Thank you.

My unit, with MCM102 firmware version - already shouldn't have been sold at the end of April - anyway, it's been more than 10 days since I sent it back BUT, as ASUS well knows from the beginning of production, this defect encountered by EVERYONE - sooner or later - it was not fixed in MCM104 firmware version either! Now, when my new monitor is delivered, I will constantly use the ALT-TAB to change windows or programs. If he were to understand the problem again, needless to say the ways that will be taken.

Thank you

I can confirm that the issue is still there on the MCM104 version. I got it a few days ago when switching from HDMI-1 to DisplayPort.
It's still very rare (it only happened twice since I have the AQDM), but someone who often switches video output or does a lot of alt-tabbing when playing full screen will eventually notice it.

The only known workaround is to unplug and replug the power cable.

I had read that it was enough to remove the cable to solve it but it wasn't like that .. anyway it shouldn't happen and that Asus produces and sells a faulty product is a SHAME!

Hello, @Canaan

Could you confirm if the settings under Nvidia display card control board>Display>change resolution are set as shown below after connecting the monitor to the graphics card using a DP cable?
- Choose the resolution>DisplayPort- PC display, Resolution: PC 2560 x 1440 (native), Refresh rate: 240Hz
- Apply the following settings: select Use NVIDIA color settings, and Output color depth: select 10bits.
Please let us know if you still experience any flickering or display abnormalities when using these manual settings and the MCM104 firmware version.

Thank you.

Hello, @staticJPL

May I ask if you also experienced the same problem with the ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM monitor?
If so, please confirm the firmware version is in the MCM104, then refer to the steps above.

Thank you.

@Jiaszzz_ROG I've upgraded to MC104 the day it released and successfully installed it. Issues are to be determined.
