PG42UQ very slow to wake from sleep.

Firmware is V031. With either a win 11 pc connected through HDMI or a macbook connected through DP, it takes an average of 30 seconds for the display to wake up and start responding if the host machine puts the display to sleep. To be clear, the OS itself is running, and the machine is not in a sleep state, just the display is in a sleep state.

Is there anything that can be done about this? It's a pretty terrible user experience, because it feels like maybe the machine froze or crashed and it's not clear that it's just the display thats not responding.

I'm still waiting for a FIX too, silently until now.

This is a confirmed issue Asus, PLESE don't be pricks and release another FW update to fix this super annoying issue, It even do that during a reboot now, It's maddening.

I am going to write a message to the Linus Tech Tips Team. I remember they had this Monitor in one of their videos and they didn't mention the awesome amount of trouble users are experiencing with this monitor. Maybe they can ask Asus for a statement or make a Video about users of expensive Hardware being beta testers.

Thats a great idea. Wasn't Linus going to use this one at home, but ended up ultimately with an lg 42 c2? If he'd have this asus junker, all of these issues would already be solved haha.

Actually, it looks like he may be using it too - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxya-divayE

I wonder if starting a thread on LTT forums would get some responses.

Thanks to ASUS for sponsoring today's video! Check out ASUS ROG OLED Gaming Monitors here: https://bit.ly/3QQ5omI Buy an Asus PG42UQ 41.5" Monitor: https://geni.us/6iSnql Buy an Asus PG48UQ 48" Monitor: https://geni.us/cxq4w The 42" C2 that Linus JUST installed is great, but it's not a monitor ...

NINE months later, the monitor is still utterly broken. I've requested a refund from asus, since I bought it directly from them. They decline... shocker.

Hello? Asus?

Edit - I didn't notice that this thread got moved to the "Asus Care" portion of the forums. That's really funny, because Asus dont care.

Still got issues with a rtx 4090 with display port and this monitor, sometimes it just doesn’t want to wake up from sleep 😞

Exactly the same here: "Still got issues with a rtx 4090 with display port and this monitor, sometimes it just doesn’t want to wake up from sleep"

I feel for you guys , after months it’s pretty unacceptable to have to turn off then on the monitor to wake it up, I’ve the same problem as you guys using a 4090 via DisplayPort.

Considering the problem that asus currently have with AM5 motherboard firmwares and the whole ryzen 7000 sudden self disassembly of processors and bricking of 500 plus euros motherboards we should probably be surprised that the current v33 firmware hasn’t killed our monitors, yet.

In retrospective maybe that’s why they have included a remote with this one.
