PG42UQ strange problems black screen/freeze screen randomly

on firmware .31 got random black screen in the middle of game will not turn back on until i unplug power and replug. also had a random screen freeze in the middle of a game. and could not turn off or anything until i unpled. this all happen on overlock off @ 120 mhz since 138 mhz would not even wake up the screen sometimes when it goes to sleep.
also my rog logo randomly turned green looked in the manual but didnt see anything anout green logo not sure what does that mean?
hope they fix all these problem on the next firmware update or will have to return this monitor.

My PC always off when I not at home, which means nearly every day they is off time when I out for work. 

I also only on the monitor first before on the pc but I don't have this issue. 

What I want to said is maybe the self upgrade version got issue but default out from factory in version 037 don't have this issue.

Instead I got another issue on switch to HDR very dim if I set HDR temperature to 10000k instead of 6500k and I need to toggle in between the temp setting to make it run correctly.

I get my monitor on 11 June 2023 and that time no version 037 firmware at Asus site yet but mine already preloaded with this version.

Anyone have any news regarding this? Been no updates with regards to the 48 inch version.

Not sure you have been reading the thread properly. The firmware for the 48 version they released fixed the issue.

I have been using firmware v040 for a couple of days now. I believe it greatly resolves all the issues I have encountered up to this point. Blackouts do not seem to occur at a regular interval, and it seems that the monitor now has the capability to automatically wake itself from pixel cleaning and quickly return to working order. I understand that HDR performance has also improved. There is a very occasional, fainlty visible flickering horizontal line of a single pixel when the overclocking is enabled, but by comparison to the problems of the screen blackout, this scarcely registers.

Thanks to the engineers at Asus for actually listening and addressing the problems users were having. Thanks to @Jiaszzz_ROG for working with us to relay our concerns to them. I would encourage the company to reflect on the dangers of rushing a premium product to market, since among hardware enthusiast communities on websites such as Reddit and Overclockers UK, I can say with confidence that it has sustained reputational damage as a result of the problems with the PG42UQ. However, I am now satisfied with my purchase. Indeed, it is such a pleasure to use that I am glad I stuck with it.

v040 seems to have fixed the monitor to work as you would expect it to when it was released.

It is fantastic when it works properly.

But. I'll never buy a ROG or ASUS monitor ever again, and not recommend anyone to buy one. They sell unfinished products causing a lot of pain for the customers, and resellers.

I'm experiencing the EXACT same thing following the v040 firmware update. Most issues were resolved, but the quick little horizontal pixel flicker persists regardless of having overclocking or g-sync enabled. If Asus can figure out this last issue and release a fix in the next firmware update, I'll finally be happy with this purchase. At the price, it is absurd that it was released with so many defects, and it has taken almost a year for Asus to start addressing them. I wish I could return this thing and wait for the new 32in Qd Oled to launch next year. 

ASUS, if you're reading this, I have been a loyal customer since I got into PC building/gaming over a decade ago. Unfortunately, as of late, you are making it exceedingly difficult to remain a customer. Please do better.

Hi, I was able to resolve the pixel flicker in the following way:

Right click Windows desktop > display setting > scroll down to advanced display > make sure PG42UQ is selected. Under choose a refresh rate, set it to 120Hz. Being at 119.88Hz was what was causing the issue for me. Hopefully this can help you as well.


I appreciate the response, but I already have it set to 120hz. Unfortunately, that won't work for me. 😞

Does this go for the 48" as well? Because there has been no updated firmware recently, and according to here: 
the problem is still ongoing. I'm refraining from updating as well, since the last time I updated from factory firmware it screwed the monitor up royaly, it had to be sent back to fac

Not sure what to suggest to - myself and other people stated that firmware 0.28 fixes the issue for 48 oled and you don't want to update to it... If you read what other ppl say they are on firmware 26 and not updated and hence the same issue. it states firmware 28 fixes the 4 hour issue
