Hi everyone, i have a little problem with my pg42uq. Basically sometimes it start with a black screen flickering for milliseconds, really fast for some seconds. Its not a big problem cause it happens randomly, not everytime but if you can help me fixing it why not 😄

For the spec, is connected via original asus dp cable on a 4090 founder, im using it on 138hz with gsync enabled, racing mode, HDR off and firmware is updated at v040.

thank you

Same I have similiar issue but it just blinks once and its like a milisecond as well.  I also have a 4090 with firmware updated using similiar setting to op.  not sure if its the hdmi or wtf....but its super weird and gets annoying from time to time.  Doesnt happen that often YET...but is somewhat common and intermittent

Hi @globalwaiting90 @Owambo @DaddyMcNasty @Waleed1 @Doctor_Headlock @Chuck5631 ,

could you please confirm if you are using the original cables provided by the manufacturer for the connection?

Are all of you using the 4090 graphics card?

Have you updated your display drivers?

If you use different signal cables for cross-testing, does the flickering issue still occur?

Under what circumstances does the flickering problem happen?

Please provide detailed information.

Also, could you provide the firmware version of your monitor and the OS version?

Additionally, could you record a video of the screen flashing during a black screen and share it with us for reference?

Please send the monitor's serial number via private message.

Thank you.

Providing detailed device specifications (MB/CPU/GPU/PSU, etc.) and the respective driver versions, OS version, and BIOS version will help us analyze the issue more effectively.

Mornig,
I am using DisplayPort 2.1 Cable [VESA Certified], DP 2.0 Cable (link delow). The cable that shipped with the monitor would not work at all.

I currently have an ASUS 3080 TUF installed

All drivers in windows are up to date (display/GPU...)

I can see flickering randomly when viewing web pages and will get a black screen occasionally when gaming. If I unplugging and replunging the monitor it will fix the issue.

I have updated the firmware on the monitor to V040.

It is very difficult to capture the flickering as it is very random and I do not usually have any capture software installed/running.

I have just completed the steps outlined in the article linked below and will let you know if it has any effect.

Hi @Chuck5631 ,

thank you for your response. Have you followed the steps in the FAQ below to see if the flickering issue still occurs? https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1051234

Regarding the issue with the original bundled cable, could you please specify how it is not functioning?

Kindly assist in confirming. Thank you.

Providing detailed device specifications (MB/CPU/GPU/PSU, etc.) and the respective driver versions, OS version, and BIOS version will help us analyze the issue more effectively.

So far so good, no issues after following the steps of that FAQ. Is was such a random issue I would I would hate to say it solved until I have had some more gamming time. But it looks good so far.

With the original cable the monitor would come on but would not display anything from the PC. I have a spare display port so I tried it and it worked. I than purchased the better cable I referenced  just to make sure I was not limiting anything.
