Hi so before I begin I just want to say this is a known issue. I've seen it reported on various forums and even the forum here. When the issue was brought up here for the 48in model of the same monitor ASUS released a firmware update to solve the problem. Only for the 48in model. It is my hope that the result will be the same.
Here's the problem. Every 4 hrs the screen goes black as if the monitor is going to sleep to force pixel clean the monitor. The only way to wake the monitor back up is to unplug it and plug it back in. Which makes me very uncomfortable for the longevity of the monitor. Every 4 hrs without fail this occurs unless you pixel clean the monitor as soon as you bootup the PC. I'd like to re-iterate the fact that the same monitor in the 48in size suffered from the same exact issue and a firmware update was pushed out that solved it. The solution that ASUS customer service has given me over the phone is an RMA. Which would not solve my problem as I know for a fact it's a firmware issue and the replacement monitor will have the same problem.
No matter what I am doing, gaming work or otherwise the screen goes black and I have to yank the power cord and plug it back in. It's an insufferable problem that again can be fixed with the firmware update pushed out for the 48in model of the same monitor. Please ASUS update the firmware for the 42in model so that I don't have to return this monitor which is still under warranty and go with another company that makes 4k OLEDs. I love ASUS and i'd like to stay with you guys but this issue is preventing me from enjoying it.
Yes the monitor is plugged in correctly. I'm not having any other issues with it and overall love it. All drivers and firmware are up to date.
For reference here are a couple posts from different forums including ASUS with people all sharing the same problem and coming to the same conclusion as myself. That every 4 hrs the monitor is forcing a pixel clean and that it's a simple firmware issue. I realize ASUS has a lot of products, as a loyal customer and avid enjoyer of many and all ASUS products I would greatly appreciate a firmware update for my monitor regarding this issue. Thanks!
