Hi,
I recently purchased PG34WCDM and am still excited. However, I am also a bit disappointed with the HDR mode—it presents bad color banding when HDR is enabled (in games, videos/YouTube, whatever is displayed in HDR mode).
I'm quite tech-savvy and tried a few ideas, but still with the same outcome.
- I tried maxing out the brightness to 100% (which solves it a bit, but only by margin)
- updated to latest firmware (MCM104) - no difference
- played with color space in the Nvidia control panel
- tested various settings in the OSD
- Tried DP and HDMI cables no image difference. I prefer using DP.
I know this is a well-known issue; as you can see, your forum is flooded with the same HDR challenges.
The issue is mostly visible when the light/color gradient is displayed.
also, a video showing when adjusting the brightness via the NV control panel - you can see how the color banding is appearing/moving
My spec:
Board - z390 ASUS
CPU - Intel 9900k
GPU - RTX2080Ti
Please help.

Hi, I'm having the same issue since I bought the monitor in May and I have posted about this back in June. Can you please also PM me if there's a solution or beta firmware that I could try out? Thanks.

Just an update for any interested: I have been provided with MCM203 (dated March 2024); there is a slight improvement, but it is still not 100% fixed. Asked if the fix can be applied to the most recent global version MCM 104
Kind regards

Please, is there any update on my case - A private message was sent back a month ago (after asking by you for more feedback in regards to the MCM203 FW), which I provided with extensive examples of where the color banding still occurs.
Please advise
Kind regards
M
