PG34WCDM goes black for a few seconds

Crasje
Level 12

Hello,

Running 2 monitors here PG27AQDM and the PG34WCDM. I have the PG34 connected via HDMI 2.1 and the PG27 via DP 1.4. Both monitors are running at 240Hz

Sometimes usually 2-3 times a day my sceen will go black on the PG34 for a few seconds and then come back. Today, the 3rd time, was a little different cause I got a popup saying the HMDI was disconnected.

Running a Rog Strix 3080 OC gaming card.

I have seen some articles about it, also concering the new 32" monitor but not any solutions. If anyone has a suggestion, please send it.

Thank you

Hi @Crasje ,

Regarding the dual monitor black screen issue you encountered, we would like to further confirm the following points:

  1. Single monitor test: To rule out display card driver or system setting issues, we recommend that you temporarily disconnect the other monitor and only connect the PG34WCDM to see if the black screen still occurs. (Since you are using a dual-monitor setup, the graphics card may experience slight timing differences when processing signals for both screens simultaneously, resulting in a brief black screen on one of the monitors. Generally, a screen switch within five seconds is considered normal.)
  2. Driver update: Please make sure that your NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 OC graphics card driver is up-to-date. You can download and install the latest driver from the NVIDIA official website.
  3. Cable replacement: We recommend that you replace the HDMI 2.1 cable with another known good cable to rule out the possibility of a cable malfunction.
  4. Factory reset: Try resetting the PG34WCDM monitor to factory settings to rule out the impact of personal settings.
  5. Refresh rate adjustment: If the above methods do not solve the problem, we recommend that you try reducing the refresh rate of both monitors to see if it can improve the situation.

Thank you.

Providing detailed device specifications (MB/CPU/GPU/PSU, etc.) and the respective driver versions, OS version, and BIOS version will help us analyze the issue more effectively.

Hello,

Thank you for your respons! Just a quick reaction:

1. I am coming from a 2 (34 & 27") monitor setup, one HDMI, one DP like now. Where the 34" was theXG349C - 180hz and never had this occur. I will test by turning off the 27" monitor.

2. I have the latest drivers (was an Nvidia update before the weekend), also updated the firmware for both monitors. I always update as soon as they come available.

3. I bought a new high quality, extra shielded cables for both montitors since due to the cable management options on my desk the standard cables were too short. I spend 4700k euro on a home-workdesk upgrade so I can assure you I did not go for cheap ali express cables, I just use A brands (like ROG).

4. I have no personal settings on the monitor yet since it is brand new and I first want to experience how it is preconfigured from the factory before making any changes.

5. As a test I can try this, but I did not spend 1925 euro on 2 brand new monitors to use them at reduced refresh rates. 😶
