PG32UCDM Unresponsive after Extended Standby

After my PG32UCDM has been in standby mode (orange LED) for an extended period (at least several hours), it will occasionally become entirely unresponsive. None of the buttons work, including power off. The monitor will not display anything even after waking or rebooting the PC. The only solution is to physically unplug the screen and plug it back in; then it will work normally again. This happens about once per week. I am running the latest MCM108 firmware, but all firmware versions have been affected. I have tried a bunch of different settings (HDR on/off, DSC disabled, VRR disabled, etc.), but there is no change, which makes sense because the problem only happens in standby. I have tried powering the screen both through a power conditioner and directly from a wall outlet. My other monitors (including a MSI QD-OLED) do not have this problem. Does anyone else have this issue? Can it be resolved in a future firmware update? Thanks.

Thank you. I didn't see that thread before. I subscribed to the topic. Hopefully Asus will address this eventually.

Hi @klaxian ,

Thank you for your inquiry.

To better understand the display-related issue you are experiencing, please provide us with the following information:

  1. Problem start time and firmware version: Did this problem occur as soon as you purchased the display? Or does it only occur in a specific firmware version?
  2. Proximity sensor setting: Have you turned on the display's proximity sensor function? Can the problem be resolved by turning it off?
  3. Indicator light color: What color is the indicator light when the display turns off? Does it light up?
  4. Connection cable test: Can the problem be resolved by trying different connection cables?
  5. Factory reset test: Have you tried restoring the display to factory settings?

Please kindly confirm the above information so that we can analyze the issue.

Thank you.

  1. I've owned the display for about a year. I think this problem has been happening the entire time. It has been the same through at least several firmware versions.
  2. The proximity sensor is already off. It created problems in the location where my display is mounted.
  3. Indicator light color: solid orange. When the display becomes unresponsive, the LED is orange, but there is no activity, it does not turn on with a signal from the PC, and none of the buttons do anything. It is not possible to turn off the display using the buttons; only unplugging it will work.
  4. I have already tried several different cables (optical and copper).
  5. I will try a factory reset, but I don't think it's a problem with the settings.

It seems like my problem might be the same as the topic linked earlier in this thread. A lot of other users are experiencing the same issue. Can you please escalate this to your engineers and post an update in that thread when you get a chance? Thanks!
