PG32UCDM Firmware 102 Breaks KVM

MrEWhite

I've noticed two glaring issues with Firmware 102's KVM:

1. With the auto KVM, turning HDR on or off will swap the KVM back over to USB-B, regardless of if you set it to USB-C

2. Enabling HDR will disconnect and reconnect the KVM to the currently selected input

The first issue makes the auto KVM useless, and the second is a major annoyance as it does not need to reconnect every time the input blanks.

Can confirm this on my end. Incredibly annoying. Thought my monitor was defective until I did some sleuthing on the forums. Every time I enter or exit a game, the monitor blanks and I lose my KB/M connection until it decides to come back. The Aura lighting on the monitor also stops working and comes back when it feels like it. Did they even test this before they sent it out?

You can rollback the firmware by unplugging the monitor, holding the two buttons to either side of the joystick, and plugging it back in while doing so. Fixes this issue for me until we get a new firmware.

Probably what I’ll do cuz it’s super annoying. And even though Windows shows 1000nits, the calibration function still clips at 420nits in the partial window calibration, so it seems like they fixed nothing.

I reverted back to the original MCM101 with the forced rollback method. Fixed the blanking KVM and constant disconnect/reconnects. Hopefully it doesn't take them two months to fix this.

Hi @MrEWhite @EthanJL721 ,

Sorry for any inconvenience you've experienced.

Could you please clarify if the issue occurs when you originally set the signal input to USB-C, and then opening or closing HDR switches the KVM back to USB-B?

Additionally, does enabling HDR disconnect the KVM and reconnect it to the currently selected input source (USB-C)?

To further investigate your issue, could you record a video of the two problem occurring for our reference?

Also, kindly provide the current signal cable/graphic card model/ graphic driver version.

Thank you.

Providing detailed device specifications (MB/CPU/GPU/PSU, etc.) and the respective driver versions, OS version, and BIOS version will help us analyze the issue more effectively.

I will work on this tonight after I get home from work. I have to reinstall the update in order to test because I rolled it back to the original MCM101 for the time being.

I can say that with the new update, upon launching or closing a game with HDR enabled; the monitor would disconnect USB entirely whether the KVM was set to auto or manual via USB-B.

So my mouse, keyboard, and Aura lighting (rear of monitor) would all blank out and take a moment to come back. Then I’d have to fiddle with Light In Motion in the OSD to get the Aura lighting to start working again.

  • I set the USB to USB-C (as that's what I have connected to my desktop), and any time the KVM disconnects (like enabling HDR), it'll switch it back to USB-B if I have the Auto KVM enabled.
  • Only if Auto KVM is disabled. If it's enabled, it sets it to USB-B, if it's disabled, it just disconnects it and reconnects it to the currently selected port.
  • Using DisplayPort with the included monitor cable, Asus RTX 4090 Strix OC, 552.12
  • I'm not currently on 102 as I had to downgrade due to this issue, so I can't take a video at the moment.

@Aureliannn_ROG

I am also having the same issue here. At first I thought something was up with my PC.

Regardless of what mode I'm in HDR or SDR, if I alt + tab out of a Fullscreen game all devices connected to the monitors KVM will disconnect and reconnect. The revert in firmware has fixed this for me, but just wanted add to the bug report.
