PG32UCDM - Dolby Vision Issues - Firmware MCM108

Hello,

I am raising this issue again because it is still a persistent issue even after updating to Firmware MCM108.

Issue: When I am in game, I have Dolby Vision set in the menu, but it shows it's just in regular HDR. When I adjust the volume on my keyboard the Dolby Vision badge pops up every time which puts the game in Dolby Vision mode only when the badge is displaying and then puts it back into regular HDR. I have the Dolby Vision app installed. I tried changing from a DP cable to HDMI 2.1.

TLDR; Can not get games to render in Dolby Vision with it on. Only is regular HDR.

Note: I understand a game has to be mastered for Dolby Vision to take real advantage of Dolby Vision, but it can still run. My main issue is that it's annoying that it flickers anytime I adjust the volume, and I shouldn't have to flip HDR and Dolby Vision on and off when gaming and not gaming. I have also seen this work properly sometimes or if I flip the HDR settings back and forth in game sometimes it will stick until I alt-tab.

I have a similar issue with Ghost of Tsushima, every time when a Steam achievement pops up. I thought this was because the game is not actually in Dolby Vision, but only HDR, so the flicker occurs when the game gets pushed into the background and Steam or Windows comes to the foreground for a couple of seconds. Maybe that is similar to your experience with the volume UI as can be seen in the video. I am not sure though and would love to learn more about this as well, as it's kind of annoying.

Hi @suburbanxsatan @Ishavet ,

Regarding the issue you are encountering with your PG32UCDM monitor being unable to consistently enable Dolby Vision functionality, we would like to confirm the following information:

  1. Have you updated your monitor's firmware to the latest version? If the firmware version is below 105, this feature may not be enabled.
  2. Have you installed the Dolby Access application?
  3. Please confirm that the game you are playing fully supports Dolby Vision, and test with other Dolby Vision-supported content (such as Netflix, Disney+) to verify if the issue only occurs during gaming.
  4. What is your current display setting on the computer? It should be set to "Extend these displays" or "Show only on 2 (e.g., PG32UCDM)".
  5. Please note that YouTube does not support Dolby Vision.
  6. Regardless of whether you enable or disable HDR Format -> Dolby Vision, are you unable to access the Dolby Vision settings?

For detailed information on enabling Dolby Vision and the conditions required, please ensure all conditions are met as per the FAQ below.
