PG32UCDM Cannot Firmware Update

Hello,

I've made a bunch of attempts to update the firmware on the PG32UCDM I recently purchased. It's on version MCM101 and I've tried to upgrade to 102 through 105, with no luck. I tried to roll-back on the instructions on another post, and I tried using no USB peripherals except a mouse on the monitor USB hub (DisplayPort, no other USB devices in PC, only the monitor USBB to USBA and the mouse) and still have had no success.

The update does load, but it says "Get Model Name Fail" every single time. I tried using another computer, a laptop, with no peripheries to load the firmware update and was not able to do so on a laptop with HDMI either. The firmware just doesn't seem to work in any capacity, on any computer I've tried with this monitor.

Screenshots attached. Could someone assist? It's absurd how bad this firmware update seems compared to a simple service-port USB, especially at this price-point.

Hi @seeker7125 ,

Thank you for contacting ASUS support.

We understand that you are having trouble updating the firmware. If you have already followed the steps provided in the official SOP but are still unable to successfully update the firmware, we suggest you consider the following options:

  1. Double-check the steps: To rule out any operational errors, we recommend that you carefully review the official SOP again and check each step to ensure it has been completed correctly. ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM | Gaming monitors|ROG - Republic of Gamers|ROG Global (asus.com)
  2. Check the network connection: Please ensure that your network connection is stable and pause other network applications to ensure sufficient bandwidth for the firmware update.
  3. Contact a service center: If the above methods do not resolve the issue, we recommend that you send your monitor to your nearest ASUS service center for inspection and repair by our professional engineers.

Thank you.

Providing detailed device specifications (MB/CPU/GPU/PSU, etc.) and the respective driver versions, OS version, and BIOS version will help us analyze the issue more effectively.

Did you try to install the monitor drivers? I also was struggling at first when updating but unplugging everything from my pc and monitor and using my mouse wired did the trick, I also needed to run the updating thingy as an admin and didn’t have any other programs running.

The "Get Model Name Fail" error usually indicates an issue with the monitor recognizing the update file or the USB drive. First, make sure the firmware file is correctly named as per the monitor's manual. Try using a different USB drive, preferably FAT32 formatted, and ensure it's plugged directly into the monitor’s service USB port. If possible, check the monitor's support page for any specific update steps or troubleshooting tips. A
