PG32UCDM black screen during game sessions!!

silverbolt81

So i am having this issue since the day i bought the monitor.

At first it was happening during a certain game, the callisto protocol.

Now it is happening also in Destiny 2.

As i am playing these games with HDR on,after some time the screen goes black and i have to manually turn the monitor off and on again in order for the image to appear again.

I had at the beggining the factory firmware, after i updated to MCM102 and now i have the 103.

This issue seems to be consistent on all firmwares.

I know it is not related to my windows setup because on the same pc with a different monitor this does not happen.

I have my pg32ucdm connected via dp.

Any suggestion would be much appreciated!!

Hello

I answer you I will test

Is there something I could do to help out? I am on Linux and the only time I experience the black screen are when I enable VRR in the desktop environment settings (KDE Plasma).  It happens mostly in games and full screen videos like Youtube.

Hi @GRTim ,

thank you for your confirmation. Could you please check if the issue also occurs when using the Windows system?
Thank you.

Before I switched to Linux full time, it did occur in Windows with firmware 103 and 105. I still have Windows 11 installed on a drive that I haven't gotten around to removing the drive and putting it in storage but can boot into it and do some testing. Is there anything specific you want me to do? On Linux the monitor has been working probably 6 months now without incident with VRR off in the desktop environment. Gaming and Youtube work flawless. The proximity sensor is disabled on the monitor but pretty much everything else is enabled.

Good morning, I have the black screen problem previously described by users, I have the ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM model
To solve periodicity, I change from dobli vision to hdr 10 and change to dobli vision and it's been a long time without blinking but I would like to solve it

Hi @leafffff ,

Thank you for your assistance.

To help us better assist you in the future, please provide the following information if the issue reoccurs:

  • Human sensor status: Please confirm if the human sensor function on your device is enabled.
  • Original cables: Please confirm that all cables connected to the device are original manufacturer cables.
  • When did the issue start: When did this issue start occurring? Did it start after updating the firmware?
  • Cross-testing: We recommend trying to connect other devices to the display or connecting the display to other devices to rule out device-specific issues.
  • Single device connection: If you have multiple devices connected, try connecting only one device to see if the issue persists.
  • HDR setting: Was HDR enabled when the issue occurred? If so, please provide the display settings at that time (e.g., timing, refresh rate).

Providing this information will help us locate the problem more quickly. Thank you.

Well I’m back after 2 months no black screens and today I got 3 within 1 hour on PS5 Pro. I initially thought my optical hdmi resolved the issue but it didn’t and sorry for recommending this fix in one my previous posts. I was on 105 firmware.

Has anyone found a solution to this yet? I just got this monitor and have the exact same issue.

The display will flicker for a second, and then the screen turns black.

  • I am on firmware 108
  • I have the latest driver installed
  • happens on windows most frequently (both display port and HDMI)
  • happens on Mac as well (usb-c)
  • when it happens, the connected USB devices are still functional, it is just the display that fails.
  • happens with HDR on or off
  • happens regardless if I am variable refresh rate or not
  • happens whether the display is set to use DSC/CEC or not

The only fix I've found is to power off the monitor and power it back on. Alternatively, reconnecting the DP/USB-C Cable also triggers the screen to re-connect.
