PG32UCDM black screen during game sessions!!

So i am having this issue since the day i bought the monitor.

At first it was happening during a certain game, the callisto protocol.

Now it is happening also in Destiny 2.

As i am playing these games with HDR on,after some time the screen goes black and i have to manually turn the monitor off and on again in order for the image to appear again.

I had at the beggining the factory firmware, after i updated to MCM102 and now i have the 103.

This issue seems to be consistent on all firmwares.

I know it is not related to my windows setup because on the same pc with a different monitor this does not happen.

I have my pg32ucdm connected via dp.

Any suggestion would be much appreciated!!

May I ask for the source for this information?

Amazing!! Thanks for the update.

Unfortunately I already returned my monitor for a refund but hope that it gets sorted for you guys! Also left a 1 star review on amazon .

I had to give my old PG32UCDM to Asus because the screen was completely frozen black and wouldn't turn on after 7 months of perfect operation without a single problem... they sent me a completely new monitor, and after not even a day of use, I had 2-3 black screens in a row (the one where you have to turn the monitor off and on again to get the image back).

After this episode, I continued using it for 2 months without having any more black screens. Today I was playing a game, and it reappeared once completely randomly.

Unfortunately, it seems like there are rare events/specific cases that trigger the monitor's protection and make it go black.

I've tried practically every setting, and whether HDR off or HDR on, low or high brightness, nothing changes. Sooner or later, it can take months or days, and it comes back a few times. The only thing I've never tried to remove is the vrr + gsync. I'll try to remove it in case it happens again... I've been playing for 2 months now and it never happened again, but today it came back, we'll see.

Asus is sending back my RMA PG32UCDP without any changes because they couldn't reproduce the problem. It's extremely disappointing given the cost of the monitor (well past return window) and the fact that I pointed them to this and other forum posts. Maybe other folks who had their monitors replaced got lucky with the technicians. It seems the only options are:

  1. Live with the problem for the life of the monitor
  2. Hope it can be fixed via NVIDIA drivers as another user above mentioned & linked
  3. Sell the monitor (wouldn't feel great about passing it on to someone else) and buy another brand of W-OLED of which there are not many options compared to QD-OLED. My room gets too much natural light for QD-OLED

You should look back(in this thread) at what I had to go through to finally get a fully working monitor from Asus. I basically went through 2 RMA's and was about to do a third. An Asus moderator stepped in and helped me out with a new replacement. The monitor I have now is Absolutely perfect.

I seem to have solved the drop outs on my PG32UCDP after trying many different things including half a dozen different certified hdmi 2.1 cable.

I got the newly revised ugreen 2m hdmi and haven’t had a single drop out since (https://amzn.eu/d/2I1mHNp). All of the older ugreen cables had drop outs for me.

I feel like the Asus monitor is not properly shielded or something, which makes these problems more likely. I have similar issue with the USB hub / kvm I’m still trying to fix unsuccessfully.
