So i am having this issue since the day i bought the monitor.
At first it was happening during a certain game, the callisto protocol.
Now it is happening also in Destiny 2.
As i am playing these games with HDR on,after some time the screen goes black and i have to manually turn the monitor off and on again in order for the image to appear again.
I had at the beggining the factory firmware, after i updated to MCM102 and now i have the 103.
This issue seems to be consistent on all firmwares.
I know it is not related to my windows setup because on the same pc with a different monitor this does not happen.
I have my pg32ucdm connected via dp.
Any suggestion would be much appreciated!!

My proximity sensor setting has been disabled off since the first day I got it.

I think my issue is fixed now after changing my Proximity from High to OFF. I no longer getting black screen after playing a game past 10 minutes or sitting far from the monitor. My firmware is 105. Maybe try resetting your monitor settings to factory default and keep Proxmity off.

Like I said earlier, I have disabled my proximity sensor to OFF the first minute I unboxed the monitor after upgrading the latest firmware. It is not a proximity sensor issue where it is not detecting a user in front of the monitor due to the fact that the setting is OFF and the monitor is ON, indicated by the solid red LED power indicator. If the monitor is on standby it would be orange. The issue occurs randomly and the fact that it is on and not displaying any image including its OSD is worrisome. I have returned the monitor to Newegg as I could not be bothered with ASUS dodgy warranty and RMA process, plus even if I were to get a replacement it is not a guarantee that the issue is resolved as can be seen by another user here that his replacement still has the issue randomly. Pretty sad that ASUS still hasn’t addressed this since I wanted to keep the monitor. Not worth the price tag to have this random issue occur especially if you’re in a hardcore gaming session as a random black screen will just ruin the moment. Even my 5 year old LG IPS monitor never had this issue, I get the disparity of technology but cmon given the price tag and advancement you would think issues like this has been QC’d before entering production.

I have the same issue like you with firmware 105. What is the max distance the promximity sensor sense a person in front of it? I think mines turn off the display (black screen) after 10 minutes or so and I have to move closer to the monitor or move around a bit to wake it back up.
My windows 11 is set to turn off display after 1 hour but that's definitely not causing it. Hard drive is set to never turn off in Win11.

I am suspecting, at least in my case, that the pixel cleaning process failing has something to do with it. I have VRR and the proximity sensor on and I have yet to have an incident after a reset. When I first got my monitor, I went months before getting a black screen and it did not start happening until I was getting messages that the cleaning process failed. This is all speculation but it was like trying to complete the pixel cleaning process, or so it seemed, mid game and then failing again a few seconds later. It sort of would explain I guess why the screen goes black and then comes back after a few seconds. I do not know but figure I would throw it out there. Like I said, I am just speculating at this point of the cause. I feel for the people that bought this expensive monitor and had it do this shortly afterwards.

A lot of guessing going on, everyone suspects something else. Very natural thing to do for a human being, I always do the same. I have periods of head aches once every approx 1,5 years and I have suspected tens of things that could be a cause of it, and when "testing" it, it never worked, it never seemed to be the trigger, it is just something else, nobody knows what really causes cluster headache, even after years and years of research.
You guys are just screwed by ASUS, it's your problem now, they already have your money, a lot of it (because gosh that thing was expensive for what it is!).
But this reply will be deleted just like my last one I suppose haha, luckily I already got rid of mine.

I haven't followed every post but let me give you a tip that helped me initially with my PG27AQN:
1. Open the Nvidia CPL and go to "Manage 3D Settings"
2. Select "Program Settings"
3. Choose the game of your choice
4. Scroll down to "Power management mode" and select "Maximum performance"
I would also choose the 4:4:4 YCbCr color mode under "Resolution". This should then stop the screen from going black and if it does, it helps to press Windows+CTRL+Shift+B immediately after the screen has gone black to restart the graphics driver.
I hope this is useful for you. Greetings

While I appreciate the attempt of workaround the fix, the issue lies not from other software settings / windows / gpu related, rather than the physical attribute of the monitor itself. Restarting graphics driver will not remedy this issue since even the monitor's own OSD will not show up when toggled, this is indicating that no image at all is showing even though the power indicator is on.

Just a question. Do you have HDR enabled on PC?
