PG32UCDM black screen during game sessions!!

So i am having this issue since the day i bought the monitor.

At first it was happening during a certain game, the callisto protocol.

Now it is happening also in Destiny 2.

As i am playing these games with HDR on,after some time the screen goes black and i have to manually turn the monitor off and on again in order for the image to appear again.

I had at the beggining the factory firmware, after i updated to MCM102 and now i have the 103.

This issue seems to be consistent on all firmwares.

I know it is not related to my windows setup because on the same pc with a different monitor this does not happen.

I have my pg32ucdm connected via dp.

Any suggestion would be much appreciated!!

Display Stream Compression (DSC) is a visually lossless compression technique developed by the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) for use with displays to achieve larger resolutions at higher refresh rates.

If you turn it off, the refresh rate will decrease to 120Hz ( 240Hz when it's on).

What I imagined, the current consoles have a maximum of 120hz. Thanks

I game on PC using RTX 4090, and the DSC is crucial for me.

Logical. It's a shame that we have to remove options that we shouldn't in order to avoid the black screen problem.

It seems that the problem lies in the screen refresh. Removing VRR and DDC/CI seems to fix it too.

@Aureliannn_ROG,

I have finally recorded the black screen issue - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9MTAMpAcLk

Bad news, testing, in my case removing DSC does not solve the black screen problem, it happens again in Goldeneye. The only thing that solves it for me is removing VRR and DDC/CI.

Hi all! So I am pretty confident this issue is either VRR or DDC/CI and until they give us the option to disable one or the other to confirm, this monitor doesn’t support VRR or you will get black screens. Moreover, I have zero issues when VRR and DDC/CI is turned off but the second I turn on VRR I get black screens. Additionally, support told us they can’t replicate the issue which I find strange given so many of us have this issue.

That's only in your situation.

I have had VRR and DDC/CI turned off for over a month now... That freaking issue keeps occurring regularly.

Hey @InvestigatorX , just saw your video, that looks annoying. Just to clarify though, it looks like in your case it goes black and then recovers on its own. Is that right? In my case, it goes black and stays black. I have to unplug and plug it back in. Someone shared a video of this here too.

I haven't had the issue since turning off DDC/CI and therefore VRR. But I understand that doesn't help in your situation.

Yeah, it recovers on its own.

Actually that morning I had the black screen issue about 8 times.

Once again, it only happens for me in non-gaming sessions.
