PG32UCDM black screen during game sessions!!

So i am having this issue since the day i bought the monitor.

At first it was happening during a certain game, the callisto protocol.

Now it is happening also in Destiny 2.

As i am playing these games with HDR on,after some time the screen goes black and i have to manually turn the monitor off and on again in order for the image to appear again.

I had at the beggining the factory firmware, after i updated to MCM102 and now i have the 103.

This issue seems to be consistent on all firmwares.

I know it is not related to my windows setup because on the same pc with a different monitor this does not happen.

I have my pg32ucdm connected via dp.

Any suggestion would be much appreciated!!

I was simply stating the two posts above the user's issue seems different and a game issue, you yourself said the same thing I did. " because the only way you can get the image back only after turning the monitor off then on again."

The user above clearly mentioned that toggling in and out of the game fixed it. I was simply saying this is not the same thing as the rest of the folks in this thread have been experiencing thus in reference to the issue being "confirmed" on fw 106 because of that user's post it likely is not.

My pc settings isnt that great

Intel i9-9990, 32gb rams, nvidia 2080 rtx super.

Also, i mentioned BO6 because that was first game i tried to run, thought my pc just cant handle it but i tried counter strike for fun and same thing happened with the black screen.

I did watched youtube, browsing through website for couple of hours and i didnt have any issues

P.S - i have HDR turned off on monitor and only on turned on in windows. I might try to turn that off or reduce refresh rate to 120hz.

The thing that bothers me the most atm is, that this  106 firmware is already out there, but obviously only for costumers who recently bought this monitor. So, what's with the rest of us and the total lack of comunication which we have for quite some time now? Because of this you might think.....hm, is there another revision which has some hardware related changes and this 106  firmware is only for this specific new revision? Are we left in the dark strategically, because the truth is, that there is maybe no other solution than RMA'ing your unit to get a new (revision) where this issues is beeing sorted out? See, the lack of proper communication is leaving a huge space for all sorts of speculation and it's really about time to break the silence and stop the "we're investigating and will inform you....bla", because this is already going on for month.  It's better to have bad news as to have no news at all imo.

I got the screen yesterday and the black screen problems started maybe 5 minutes after turning the screen on. I have the new firmware 106, no problems with pc as itworks very well with another screens on hdmi and on dp. In my case the black out seems to come randomly, no matter if I am gaming, watching youtube or just having the screen still on desktop. It goes black for maybe 5-20 seconds and comes back alive automatically. Happend on the average after every five minutes, sometimes more often, sometimes it took longer.

I took off the dp cable from screen and put it back, after that I have not had the problem back (yet), but I have only used the screen maybe 40 minutes after it before I had to go to sleep. Today after work I will use it again.

Anorher thing that bothered me, while playing the witcher 3 with the screen (hdr off), while looking at the sky in the game there was noticeable some kind of "blinking",  in (the colors or brightness?) But when turned hdr on it did not happen anymore. Does anyone know what it might be? I have not had an oled or hdr screen before, coming from gigabyte m32u (ips 4k) that is now as my second monitor and it is working fine as earlier.

Now the screen have been on for two hours, no black outs yet. Maybe, and hopefully in my case it was just poorly connected dp cable or something with that and will now work well. But lets see.

And I found out that blinking while playing the twitcher, it actually had nothing to do with hdr as i tried again today and it did it also hdr turned off, but instead the problem was with vrr and after turning it off there is no such a problem.

Time will show how it goes, I really hope this expensive monitor will work as it should. The first impression was ruined but now as it works at least now, I am getting impressed by the oled and hdr.

I’ve been having this issue myself for the last few months since I purchased this monitor. Recently, I replaced a TV that was also connected to my computer, and magically the black screen flickering issue disappeared entirely. I used to be able to have a fairly reliable way of reproducing the issue and now it hasn’t happened since. For context the TV was connected via a display port to HDMI cable. I have a feeling that something weird is happening in the conversion of the signal for that particular TV that may be affecting this monitor. This anecdotally might have been only my solution, but it may be worth a shot to disconnect all other monitors connected to the computer and see if the issue persists.

Same for me. Happens with a mac laptop (more often) and a PC Alienware R12. Intermittent, brief (maybe 1- 2 seconds), screen completely blank, full resolution.

so is there really no fix to this issue? ive had this monitor for over a month now. the first few days were fine, until i noticed random black screens in games i was playing. it was random as i was not able to recreate the issue, so i changed to the included DP cable and seemed to have mostly fix the issue for a couple of weeks up until today, i had a random black screen, what was odd is that i pressed WIN+ALT+B to turn off HDR and sure enough the screen came back on. im wondering if this is some sort of HDR issue with these monitors?

For me it happens in SDR and HDR as well. It's nearly impossible to reproduce this issue, because it happens only in a couple of games, well, at least for me. It's super annoying and until now there is no fix, no information about a proper solution or a new firmware. We're akso still waiting on the MCM106 to appear on the download page. Pretty frustrating and I'm still not thinking about RMA, but who knows what is going to happen. So far there is NOTHING coming from the devs for month now.

Yeah ive read others having the same issue with both SDR and HDR, i also have VRR turned off along with oroxy sensor off. Ill have to play this week with ONLY on SDR to see if i still get the issue . But i agree this is unacceptable to have this kind of issue on a $1300+ monitor 🤦
