So i am having this issue since the day i bought the monitor.
At first it was happening during a certain game, the callisto protocol.
Now it is happening also in Destiny 2.
As i am playing these games with HDR on,after some time the screen goes black and i have to manually turn the monitor off and on again in order for the image to appear again.
I had at the beggining the factory firmware, after i updated to MCM102 and now i have the 103.
This issue seems to be consistent on all firmwares.
I know it is not related to my windows setup because on the same pc with a different monitor this does not happen.
I have my pg32ucdm connected via dp.
Any suggestion would be much appreciated!!

Τhe firmware has nothing to do with fixing the issue,i was one of the first that got that firmware and i still experience occasionally black screen.

and you did follow the exact steps they mentioned in the document of installing the firmware, like specific reset instructions? for me it worked out, as the only thing I did was, follow the procedure, install, and no issues whatsoever anymore.. for multiple weeks now..

Of course i did, don't make assumptions so early the black screen always lurks in the shadows!!

For real and just when we you start to tell yourself I haven’t had a black screen in awhile you get brought back to reality lol

I believe the issue is related to drivers *AND* firmware. Upon further analysis I'm leaning towards this being a voltage issue drop within the wire.
Display ports and HDMI cables both have copper and like any electric connection you will have voltage drop and/or loss. Sometimes it is too much : intense action scene in darker areas.
In my opinion the cables given are just not strong enough to deal with those drops from the NVIDIA GPU and the display.
I'm currently testing :
Cable Matters [Designed for Xbox Certified] Active 8K @60Hz Fiber Optic HDMI Cable 16.4 ft / 5m
And we know that with fibre optic the data is being converted to light : LOSSLESS SIGNAL
With this new test I'm doing I'm unable to replicate my black screen on many titles

@rhms, I was looking into an FO HDMI and it seems like all of them are way too long and I'll try this out if it's been working for you and ive seen a video on youtube this guys TV was having black screens and used this cable and it fixed the issues.

Yes most of em are long since of their uses at longer distances. But they are shorter cables out there. The one I have is 16.4 ft / 5m.
I believe they are shorter ones from different brands but they are not always Ultra High Speed certified. I know some users have had good experience in the past with some of those cable. But in order to avoid false positive in my case I decided to stick with certified cables.
What has been most successful for me during replications test. (With or Without Fibre Optic)
- Using Power management mode : Prefer maximum performance (On selective games only in NVCP) : w/o & with fibre optic
- Using Fibre optic cable with or w/o Prefer maximum performance
The worst game I was able to replicate so many black screen was uncharted on PC. Even in the just the prologue.
There was also a certain *chapter 20* which was pure black cave with just gunfire going off so you can expect the screen just FLASHING AND FLASHING. I was like uh oh black screen incoming since this is very typical scenario for it to occur.
But without using PMP black screen would occurs almost always on chapter 20 even upon just dying since the screen would become reddish in corner and full grey in the middle ( typical scenario for black screens to occurs)
When using PMP I could complete the full game without any black screen and that was with the HDMI that came with the display.
So I tested with the Fibre optic and sure enough the cable works/mitigate the issue in a way that I don't need to use PMP. (No black sreen)
P.S : Every single test was done after a full reboot
But I ain't no expert I just recognized patterns and these black screen have been a nightmare to troubleshoot since from my POV there is almost no pattern.
So it's like @silverbolt81 said "" the black screen always lurks in the shadows!! ""
You could end up mitigating the issue with these steps but in the end. We truly need a Drivers, FW update and most likely a FW update on PS5 for the users on PS5.

I am very fortunate that i play games that do not trigger the black screen,so i get it maybe one time every two or three weeks.
I have some games in my library, just a few of them that it is guaranteed i get one every gaming session but those games i rarely play them.
Just for the record,i never experienced black screen during video playback, browsing the net with various browsers like chrome, edge, firefox and also when using various software on windows 11.

Thanks, @rhms !
yeah, I noticed that and I went with cable that matters 16ft because it’s certified and I’ll report back if it helps or get worse. I also have PS5 pro coming so maybe my ps5 is defective in some way, but if I still get black screens with the pro I’m going to RMA as the last resort which I’m sure I’ll get black screens on the replacement.

Just recently I also bought some DP 2.1 optic fibre cable and I can report, that this is NOT the solution. Btw, I'm currently playing Mechwarrior 5 Clans and the black screen issue is pretty bad when running the monitor @240hz. As I mentioned in my last post a couple of days ago, only when I disable DSC-Support on the monitor (120hz) the game is running without issues. When DSC is on and I manually limit it to 120hz and also with VRR off, this game still gives me blackscreens. Like so many others, I'm still waiting on a proper solution from the devs, because disabling one of the main features is of course NOT a solution for me.
