So i am having this issue since the day i bought the monitor.
At first it was happening during a certain game, the callisto protocol.
Now it is happening also in Destiny 2.
As i am playing these games with HDR on,after some time the screen goes black and i have to manually turn the monitor off and on again in order for the image to appear again.
I had at the beggining the factory firmware, after i updated to MCM102 and now i have the 103.
This issue seems to be consistent on all firmwares.
I know it is not related to my windows setup because on the same pc with a different monitor this does not happen.
I have my pg32ucdm connected via dp.
Any suggestion would be much appreciated!!

A lot of guessing going on, everyone suspects something else. Very natural thing to do for a human being, I always do the same. I have periods of head aches once every approx 1,5 years and I have suspected tens of things that could be a cause of it, and when "testing" it, it never worked, it never seemed to be the trigger, it is just something else, nobody knows what really causes cluster headache, even after years and years of research.
You guys are just screwed by ASUS, it's your problem now, they already have your money, a lot of it (because gosh that thing was expensive for what it is!).
But this reply will be deleted just like my last one I suppose haha, luckily I already got rid of mine.

I haven't followed every post but let me give you a tip that helped me initially with my PG27AQN:
1. Open the Nvidia CPL and go to "Manage 3D Settings"
2. Select "Program Settings"
3. Choose the game of your choice
4. Scroll down to "Power management mode" and select "Maximum performance"
I would also choose the 4:4:4 YCbCr color mode under "Resolution". This should then stop the screen from going black and if it does, it helps to press Windows+CTRL+Shift+B immediately after the screen has gone black to restart the graphics driver.
I hope this is useful for you. Greetings

While I appreciate the attempt of workaround the fix, the issue lies not from other software settings / windows / gpu related, rather than the physical attribute of the monitor itself. Restarting graphics driver will not remedy this issue since even the monitor's own OSD will not show up when toggled, this is indicating that no image at all is showing even though the power indicator is on.

Just a question. Do you have HDR enabled on PC?

Yes, Since I first got it. It is enable.
Did not had any black screen since the 13th of September and well today on the 3rd of October.

So--> when I had enough share of black screens for me during gaming (Wukong)-->, I tried switching vrr on in Windows settings and it worked. Magically, there have been no black screens since then. BUT--> a few days ago bought the new God of War: Ragnarok and suddenly--> hell let loose. Didn't matter DP or HDMI 2.1--> black screens every 3 seconds. Tried everything. Literally everything. Until a bright idea came up in my mind--> maybe I should default msi afterburner oc I had put on my rtx 4090. And the miracle happened-> suddenly no black screens whatsoever. They just stopped and after hours of testing--> no black screens. So the final solution for me was (at least for now because you never know or in other words- I don't trust anything anymore)--> is to NOT overclock Your GPU but to set it to default settings. FYI--> hdr is on + boosted brightness hdr, 12bit, RGB, vrr, 240hz, Gsync on etc. other bells and whistles switched on--> and black screens stopped when defaulting to og GPU settings in msi afterburner.

Another thing--> when GPU was OCed (+1000mhz on memory and 3000mhz GPU clock @ 1.1volts)--> if I switched to 4k 120hz mode for the monitor (disabling DSC but leaving everything else on)--> also no black screens whatsoever. So my guess is that DSC is the thing to blame here + of course the additional strain on the GPU I had because of the OC. It just couldn't swallow the OC strain together with DSC in 240hz 4k mode but turning of OC--> it copes fine with the DSC in 240hz 4k mode. Another thing to mention-->In 24.5inch mode playing multiplayer with OC on GPU and 240hz mode--> didn't have any black screens since day one (have been using the screen since May and had the OC on GPU since May).

It does indeed have something to do with DSC, the same thing happened with my PG27AQN. Luckily, this problem has disappeared with the latest drivers, but up until then it only helped to select the maximum performance mode for each game, that was the only solution to stop the
screen from going black due to the DSC. Turning off DSC also worked, but then the maximum refresh rate is no longer available.
Be that as it may, there are currently parallel problems with a black screen, completely independent of the DSC problem and regardless of the screen type in individual games such as Apex Legends, which is the fault of the game or the driver, and the key combination I mentioned helps here. If the screen goes black immediately when starting a game or an application, the key combination to restart the driver helps. If the screen goes black sporadically while gaming, the only thing that helps is turning off DSC or selecting the maximum performance mode in the driver for the application.
Just try the following settings:
1. Select the maximum performance mode for the affected game
2. Select 8 bit (the lowest value that can be set) and 4:4:4 Ycbcr
3. Start the game in full screen window mode

I started experiencing black screens again and I even did a factory reset again but this time the black screens became more frequently. However, I noticed something odd. When I brought up the monitor's menu while watching a Youtube video at full screen, I noticed the refresh rate in the menu in the top center was all over the place sometimes dropping to 60hz only while watching the video at full screen and I would get several black screens. Before any of this started happening, it would always be at 240hz no matter what. Then I remembered that I plugged my cable into a different display port on my RTX 2080 (it has 2 DP ports) sometime ago after doing a case cleaning and that is when it started noticing black screens because I went months without a single incident before. I plugged it in to the one that it was originally in when I first got this monitor and watched the same Youtube video again. This time, it stayed on 240hz the whole time and never fluctuated. With that said, has anyone noticed that the refresh in the monitor's menu wildly fluctuates right before a black screen? Also, has anyone tried using another DP port on their graphics card to see if you get the same result?
