PG32UCDM black screen during game sessions!!

So i am having this issue since the day i bought the monitor.

At first it was happening during a certain game,the callisto protocol.

Now it is happening also in Destiny 2.

As i am playing these games with HDR on,after some time the screen goes black and i have to manually turn the monitor off and on again in order for the image to appear again.

I had at the beggining the factory firmware,after i updated to MCM102 and now i have the 103.

This issue seems to be consistent on all firmwares.

I know it is not related to my windows setup because on the same pc with a different monitor this does not happen.

I have my pg32ucdm connected via dp.

Any suggestion would be much appreciated!!

I got my replacement monitor and shipped my old one back. It should arrive at Asus in a week. Hopefully they can test that and reproduce it to find us a solution. The white flashing issue that rhms posted is exactly what I experience.

@Aureliannn_ROG can you please give an update from engineering side of things? As you can see a lot of ppl have the issue. We see already people shipping and replacing, which imho is high of cost and environmentally bad.. I would like to understand if this is a SW or HW issue.. else I also ship it back..

I have had this issue since day one - no reason for it, usually happens when gaming and its random. When is support going to acknowledge this problem? Definitely makes me want to return the monitor.

I'm shocked Asus charges this much for a monitor and has 0 input on this obviously widespread issue.

Has anyone installed the MCM105+LOG firmware? This can be obtained by Aureliann_ROG via DM request and I think it might help them figure out what's going on. Additionally, I just got 2 black screens within minutes with VRR off and DDC/CI turned off on my ps5 and this is the first time I've got them again in like 2 months. Therefore, happy to report disabling these does not help and black screens will eventually happen again.

yeah I got MCM105SL installed. I keep sending my screenshots logs to Aureliannn_ROG.
Simple to install pretty much the same as MCM105

@rhms, I am curious if you are experiencing the same issues with the log firmware and when my screen goes black the power indicator flashes red and orange and I have to power cycle to get the data log. This is what mine showed after a black screen on ps5.

Since I installed the log software I have no issues 🤩

the installation of the firmware also forced me to reset the settings. Not sure what made the difference but no black screen this weeks. I think I used the monitor 4/5 hours. 

Yeah after installing MCM105SL the logo will flash red and orange. In my case since I'm using it on windows I can either

- Alt tab out of the game --> Desktop image reappears --> tab back in.

- If alt tab does not fix --> power cycle.

Your logs are on par with mine no white error but every black screen would increment the green number

My first black screen the blue number incremented to 16 just like yours and every new black screen would increment the green one alone(From my POV)

Red is from normal operation I believe since it increments after powering down, standby, pixel cleaning and power cycle. Then at 255 the red will reset back to 0.

 

I had 1 black screen two days ago after 1-2 weeks of not having any black screens.
