So i am having this issue since the day i bought the monitor.
At first it was happening during a certain game, the callisto protocol.
Now it is happening also in Destiny 2.
As i am playing these games with HDR on,after some time the screen goes black and i have to manually turn the monitor off and on again in order for the image to appear again.
I had at the beggining the factory firmware, after i updated to MCM102 and now i have the 103.
This issue seems to be consistent on all firmwares.
I know it is not related to my windows setup because on the same pc with a different monitor this does not happen.
I have my pg32ucdm connected via dp.
Any suggestion would be much appreciated!!

Try disabling proximity sensor.

Disabling proximity sensor didn’t help. Turned it off from the beginning (more than a month ago).

You are right. I turned the Proximity sensor off, but the monitor still turned off. I have identified that it turns off less with HDR than with SDR.

I have the same problem. It happened once when I was testing the different HDR modes and I didn't give it any importance, but playing Call of Duty in SDR, the screen freezes black, the game worked and it was audible but the monitor didn't respond nor did the OSD with the joystick, the light came out The monitor turned on red, it lasted about 15 seconds and the screen worked again. I have 1 week left on the warranty with so many people having the same problem and no solution, I think I will return it. I also suffer from coolwhine in off mode and I have to put it on standby to solve it, in addition to the well-known console HDR problem.
I play with the latest version MCM103 and only Xbox Series X

Can confirm this happens to me as well, at first it seemed like an issue from switching between HDR -> SDR or SDR -> HDR, but now it is just doing it in SDR. On the windows desktop, even when using file explorer screen randomly turns off. I have disabled proximity sensor, have the Asus monitor driver installed, am running the latest firmware, am using the officially provided displayport cable on a rtx 4090. I can confirm that my PC is still fully functional as my secondary monitor functions fine during this time and I still have complete control of everything on the PC. Like others I can also confirm trying to bring up the OSD/Menu does not work. Have about 2 weeks on my return window so would like to get an updated response from Asus, this monitor got amazing reviews it is sad that so many are having this problem.
Might be time to give Steve from GN a call to get the word out about this one.
Hope to see a better official Asus response, as it doesn't seem like there has been an update in a while.

Hi @Janemba,
thank you for providing the information.
According to your description, you are experiencing black screen issues when switching between SDR and HDR.
We would like to remind you that a brief black screen may occur during the switching process, which is normal.
Typically, the screen should return to normal display within 1 to 2 seconds after the switch.
Also, please confirm if you are using the DP cable provided by the manufacturer and provide the current device model.
Thank you.

Thank you for the reply. Yes I have experienced the issue switching SDR -> HDR and the reverse, it is not the normal image blackout from switching I am aware of that, it last much longer than 1-2 seconds, typically after about 30 seconds I restart my PC and it corrects things. I experience it more consistently when switching HDR modes via the monitor OSD (which then disappears and is unresponsive as noted). It has also done it when no switching has occurred and I am just viewing things in normal SDR content (although only happened once)...it lasted about 40-50 seconds and eventually the picture returned. Per the original post I am using the display port cable provided by Asus in the box. I will attempt to record a video of the issue but it is so intermittent that without recording constantly it will be hard to capture. I haven't actually had my problem occur yet while gaming but it is good to know that it is still being looked at and the team is testing, that is what I was looking for. I appreciate you posting updates on this.
Monitor is the PG32UCDM running FW MCM103

Hi @Janemba ,
thank you for your response.
We understand that the black screen issue is intermittent and does not happen every time. However, if possible, we recommend providing a video for our reference. Our backend team has not been able to replicate the black screen issue. The video will assist our team in analyzing and confirming the problem.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Hello,
As I've posted here, I'm encountering the same black screen issue on my PS5, True Black HDR 400, using the PS5's HDMI 2.1 cable.
