PG32UCDM black screen during game sessions!!

silverbolt81
Level 11

So i am having this issue since the day i bought the monitor.

At first it was happening during a certain game, the callisto protocol.

Now it is happening also in Destiny 2.

As i am playing these games with HDR on,after some time the screen goes black and i have to manually turn the monitor off and on again in order for the image to appear again.

I had at the beggining the factory firmware, after i updated to MCM102 and now i have the 103.

This issue seems to be consistent on all firmwares.

I know it is not related to my windows setup because on the same pc with a different monitor this does not happen.

I have my pg32ucdm connected via dp.

Any suggestion would be much appreciated!!

Hi @silverbolt81 ,

Thank you for providing further information.

In order to better address the issue you're facing, we need to understand some additional details.

Firstly, does this problem also occur in previous versions?

Additionally, when the screen goes black, is it completely black or just dimmed?

Furthermore, you mentioned that the issue only arises when HDR is enabled, does this mean it only occurs when playing in HDR mode?

Does the problem occur only during gaming, or does it also happen during regular usage?

If possible, could you provide some additional details such as the duration of your gaming sessions and the frequency of the issue?

Lastly, please provide the current signal cable connection method you are using, as well as the models of your motherboard, graphics card, and memory.

This will help us better understand your system configuration.

If convenient, please also assist by providing a video demonstrating how the issue can be replicated, as this will aid us in accurately diagnosing the problem. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Providing detailed device specifications (MB/CPU/GPU/PSU, etc.) and the respective driver versions, OS version, and BIOS version will help us analyze the issue more effectively.

Please try a different HDR setting such 'DisplayHDR 400 True Black' and see what happens. Find it under 'Image' from the monitor controls, then it is under 'HDR Setting'

I used this and so far so good playing Helldivers 2 in HDR in Fullscreen more. Previously I used 'Gaming HDR' and my screen blacked out. But my season also changed and my room is colder now so not sure if its temperature related...
Also what is your ambient temperature?

thank you for reaching out to us.

We would like to assist you further. Could you please provide the specific resolutions at which you have encountered the issue? Is it at 3840x2160@240Hz? Additionally, please provide us with any relevant configuration information.

Thank you.

When you have the monitor in standard SRGB, at 3840 x 2160@240Hz with the Proximity sensor off, it still turns off the monitor.  I have tested it several times under the latest firmware update.  No, the Proximity sensor off does work if you use HDR in Windows.  Something is triggering the proximity sensor to be inaccurate regarding the mode the monitor is in, RGB vs. HDR.

Hi,

My setting is 3840x2160@240Hz using HDMI 2.1 cable. Console HDR setting with VRR on and proximity sensor off. Nvidia 4090 Strix. Only happens in games and lately I haven't encounter any black screen. I'm on beta firmware MCM104.

Heya,

Yes. 4k@240 over HDMI. I notice it a lot more with VRR enabled (Freesync Premium Pro). HDR enabled. Haven't noticed a difference between HDR modes though. Also, happening on fw104 beta for me on my second panel. Previously it was happening on all fw Vers. Before my replacement monitor. Current one has only been tested at 101 & 104.

Happens in D4, HD2, Homeworld 3 & other games.

Radeon RX6800, Ryzen 5800x3D, 32GB. Multiple GPU driver revisions, usually latest version.

Anything else I can provide of use?

Hey @Aureliannn_ROG ,

I use 3840x2160@240Hz with VRR and HDR on PC and 3840x2160@60Hz with VRR and HDR on PS5.

I have used the provided HDMI 2.1 cable provided in the box as well as a high end Audio quest HDMI 2.1 from Best Buy, and I have got black screens with both cables and resolutions and settings above. I am also on the latest firmware, proximity sensor is off. It’s hard to replicate and it’s so random but it’s happened on the following games: destiny 2 (3 times on pc), Final Fantasy 7 rebirth (1 time on ps5), stellar blade (2 times on ps5).

thank you and let us know if you need more info!
