PG32UCDM A lot of digitizing occurs on darker screens

I'm playing Ghost of Tsushima on ps5 and vertical lines appear in darker areas, and other times when watching movies. It's normal again on other screens. Restoring factory settings mitigates it, but he's still there.81e80485d0b84d79ccc34030cde7e29.jpg

I also had that on mine. I think all PG32UCDMs have this and it's normal. It is also visible on a still image if you have an 8 % gray image under a certain condition: If you move your head back and forth to increase and decrease the distance your eyes have to the monitor, the lines pop in while in movement. But if you hold your head still they are somehow not visible. It's very weird.

Thanks for the reply, I feel this is a very serious problem, I return to mcm103 version of this strobe vertical line is still present, so far I have not seen other people have responded to this problem, I see you say you also have, it means it is not a problem with my personal machine, this vertical line in the darkness when the probability of the appearance of a large area, usually basically invisible. I hope ASUS official can pay attention to this problem to fix, because PG32ucdm is a very good monitor, I like it very much!

I don't think this is a firmware related issue and I'm also certain this will be impossible to fix with a future firmware update. It is a problem with the Samsung QD-OLED panel itself, which all of those new 32" 4k 240 hz monitors use. If you search on reddit you will find alot of other people who got the exact same issue even on other monitors with that same panel. Also keep in mind, that most people don't notice these lines cause they don't know how to check and test properly for it. If I were you I would'nt worry too much. And if it really bothers you, the only thing you can do is to return it. But I would'nt do it since it's a fantastic and unbelievable good monitor.

Thanks, but I've missed the returnable deadline. I've only realized this problem now, I need to get close to the screen to notice this vertical line, I'll see if the official people over here give a reasonable explanation. If not, I'll contact the after-sales service.

Yeah I'm also curious what Asus's official statement is on this issue.

Hi @Suzaku-CJ ,

based on your issue, we would like to ask you the following questions:

  1. Have you tried performing a pixel refresh? After performing the refresh, do you still see the lines on the screen?
  2. When did this issue start occurring? The latest firmware version is 105. Have you updated your firmware to the latest version?
  3. What cable are you currently using to connect the monitor? Is it HDMI or DP?
  4. Please confirm if your resolution and refresh rate settings are correct.

Thank you.

Providing detailed device specifications (MB/CPU/GPU/PSU, etc.) and the respective driver versions, OS version, and BIOS version will help us analyze the issue more effectively.

Hello,

1. after I perform a pixel refresh, this vertical line still still finds it.
2. I only stumbled upon this issue after recently upgrading to 105, and hadn't noticed if it was there before.
3. i'm using a hdmi port to play ps5 and nvidia shield tv to watch movies both found this. (Easily occurs when there are large dark scenes, other images normally don't have vertical lines.)
4. I have followed the default settings without changes, thanks.

Updated:
1. selecting gameing hdr mode, the dark part of the beginning of Ghost of Tsushima Island on ps5 will have a lot less vertical lines.
2. when i turn on turn on horizon 120hz mode on ps5, this one can barely see the darks with vertical lines anymore.
So I think it's a firmware issue, which is fixable, please take it seriously, thank you (ps: pc is currently not aware of the vertical lines, using the dp interface)

Hi, this is a problem that most people are experiencing at the moment, it's a 3rd generation QD-olde fault, please bother to take it seriously and fix it, thanks. The link is reddit various received information about the symptoms and the situation.Vibrating vertical lines occurring on all 3rd gen QD-OLEDS?
