I recently got the ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG27UCDM, and I’m experiencing a weird power issue. Here’s what’s happening:
The Issue
When I turn off the monitor normally, I hear a mechanical circuit shutdown sound (which I assume is normal since the power adapter is built into the monitor).
But after some random period, I hear a circuit activation sound, and the monitor’s power light turns back on.
When this happens, one of two things occurs:
The monitor enters standby mode with an orange light.
The monitor turns on along with the red laser lights at the bottom and stays that way.
In both cases, the screen doesn’t fully turn on, but the monitor is clearly receiving power.
It seems there is no way to turn fully off without unplugging the power chord.
What I’ve Tried
Waited more than 20 minutes → The monitor never turned off.
Factory reset → Didn’t fix it.
Disabled the Neo Proximity Sensor → No change.
Disconnected all cables except power (HDMI, DisplayPort, USB) → Issue still persists.
Checked ASUS’s website for firmware updates → I’m on the latest version / there is no firmware yet.
What Could Be Happening?
I know the monitor has an automatic pixel cleaning feature, but this behavior happens even long after it should be done.
It seems like a power circuit issue, since it randomly turns on by itself after being shut down.
Has anyone else experienced this with the PG27UCDM? Any solutions or workarounds? Would appreciate any insights.
Thanks!

Got my screen 2 days ago and have same issue. Considering I’m suffering from the black screen issue as well, I’m beginning to get somewhat frustrated given the price of this monitor

Here another one, just got the monitor today and it keeps turning back on after I shut my ps5 off (and then then monitor automatically shutsdown to).
It’s really bad because when the monitor turns itself on my ps5 also turns on automatically, not good for an Oled when I’m asleep and the screen is on the whole night. Please I want to keep the monitor but this needs to be fixed asap 🥲

that’s strange, when I find the monitor active in the morning the screen is always black, only rgb is active. I think if you set on the distance control at least the screen should be off

Same issue here. The only way to keep it turned off, for me, is to let it turn itself back on (the broken mode with all 3 lights turned on). Then press the right key, and it turns off.
If I turn it off any other way, it turns back on. I have to press the power key After it turned itself on, then it's fine.

Same problem here, this is very bad, I am gaming and it is randomly getting black, you can imagine how bad it is.
Please FIX ASAP. Nothing helps i tried all the settings and it is still on, off, on, off .....

Dear Shamancan,
I am experiencing a similar problem. Have you identified a resolution, or will you be receiving a replacement unit?

Hello. Unfortunately, there's nothing to do except wait for ASUS to release a new firmware. They're a bit slow considering the issue

Even after 1.5 months, ASUS still hasn't released a firmware update for this issue. It's pretty absurd, isn't it? So many monitors have power issues, yet instead of fixing the problem, they keep selling defective units. I absolutely do not recommend ASUS products to anyone around me.
I hope this issue doesn’t shorten the monitor’s lifespan and cause so many units to fail in the future.
