I have been using the PG27UCDM for a few days now and have noticed an issue where the display will go black for a few seconds and turn back on. When the screen goes black, I can still interact with the content and audio is still working as well. This happens during games as well as regular web browsing. Currently I have tried the following:
Has anybody else noticed this happening with their monitor? I am currently testing if the issue is gone after disabling the Neo Proximity Sensor. Will report back later.
Update:
I have not had any black screen issues for 8 hours since disabling the Neo Proximity Sensor. Just now I tried to use the Tailored Mode for measuring distance and I noticed it shows around 30 cm distance even if I move away during measuring. I have enabled the Neo Proximity Sensor again and set the distance to 120 cm to perform a new test.
Update 2:
After setting the distance to 120 cm I still have the problem of the screen going black. What I think is happening is that if I'm not moving around enough, the sensor thinks I am no longer at my desk. For now I will disable the Neo Proximity Sensor and hope someone from Asus sees this post.

Got the same issue. It usually happens when playing as I tend to move my head the less. Very annoying.

Hi all,
after confirmation, the team is aware of this issue and working to optimize the sensor sensitivity.
We appreciate your patience while we work on this. We will keep you updated as soon as there is any new information.
Thank you for your understanding and support.

Just wanted to reply here as well, it happens on PG32UCDM even with motion sensor off.
There isn't any fix discovered.
The consensus is that it's from a build-in protection mechanism that switches the screen black at random times.
Alot of ppl say it's from DSC.
I don't understand why the reply above mentions the motion sensor since alot of users (including me) said that they have it disabled.
Some ppl unplugged it from the power supply and repllugged it after it's fine for 2-3 days then the black screens happen again.
Here is our thread, it has 78 pages of replies with no fix, just "send it back to RMA" (a user sent it and it got the same monitor with the same problem with no fix // if I send it I can't game for like a month):
mega-thread regarding black screen

Since disabling the Neo Proximity Sensor on the PG27UCDM I have not had any black screen issues for a while now.

Guess then the Sensor really is the problem for the PG27UCDM and the PG32UCDM has another issue that affects it then.
Sorry for hijacking the thread, it can be closed I guess since the issue has been "resolved" (not really since you have to disable the Sensor you know, at least there's a solution).

I have the same issue with the screen turning black when the proximity sensor is turned on. It doesn't seem to matter what distance I specify. I notice it seems to happen when I am not moving around much like others mentioned on here. Hopefully, ASUS is working on a firmware update since this issue seems to be pretty widespread.

Just got mine today and this is also happening and is quite annoying. Turning the sensor off seems to the main fix but id prefer to leave it on for times I leave my monitor for a while.

Hi all,
the team is aware of the Neo Proximity Sensor issue and is actively working on a resolution.
In the meantime, we recommend temporarily disabling this feature to avoid any impact on your usage.
We will provide updates as soon as more information becomes available.
Thank you for your understanding and support.

Hey there Aureliannn,
how do we know when you have any solution for this problem ?
I have same issue on my PG27UCDM, its a Neo-Proximity sensor, and im getting "black screen" thing like multiple times a day.
For now i configured panel turn-off in Windows, but i am for certain would love to use built-in solution in monitor
