PG27AQN newest FIRMWARE ISSUES "GAME VISUAL" modes (Scenery, Racing, Cinema, RTS/RPG, G-SYNC Esport

With the latest firmware update ASUS has included some new controls for the PG27AQN, one of them being "VIBRANCE" within the "Color" Menu. This control (VIBRANCE) is automatically raised to 158 (WELL ABOVE the default 100) when selecting G-SYNC Esports mode.

This is good, that is what you want for G-SYNC Esports mode. But when you DISABLE G-SYNC Esports mode you are STUCK with VIBRANCE at 158. BEFORE THE FIRMWARE UPDATE this did not happen.

BEFORE this firmware update if you changed to any other mode (I use RACING for everyday use) the VIBRANCE returns to normal saturation levels at a setting of 100 (I assume since this control was hidden from us before). Now is not the case. Please release another firmware update to fix this. I'm tired of using the fragile joystick to set this back to 100 OVER AND OVER now.

Also please give us documentation on the new controls. What kind of firmware release has no documentation explaining how to use new settings like ULMB 2 PULSE WIDTH OFFSET. Like we are just supposed to intuit what this does? No mention of VIBRANCE at all either.

Finally, there is no explanation to the changes of the highly controversial "ASPECT CONTROL" mode which, in the past, has NOT WORKED with games like Valorant who force the active signal resolution to match the maximum resolution of your display. Now it seems when you select 25" crop mode it will FORCE a resolution change in the operating system.

Can we get some clarification? There are 2 new modes within ASPECT CONTROL as well (STRETCHED) with no explanation as to how they work or what they do with the signal. I selected stretched and got some very strange active signal resolutions.

In fact, I also noticed yesterday that my monitor doesn't automatically go into standby after I shut down my PC. I usually turn the monitor off manually, so I only noticed it now.

Furthermore, I don't understand the "Aspect Control" functions, because with 27" or 25" with the stretched option, this doesn't mean that the resolution is stretched across the entire width of the image, but rather strange resolutions are suddenly available that I can't do anything with. Something is definitely wrong here.

please Asus take a look at the problems!

Another thing I’ve noticed is that the aspect control is only available when there’s an image on the screen.  So for example if I’m on my desktop in 25” mode, and then I need to work the day after using my mac (which doesn’t detect the monitor in 25” mode), I can’t enable 27” mode again without booting up my desktop and changing it from there.  I’m not sure how this update was approved and I don’t know if it’s possible to downgrade back to the original fw.

Hi all,

I've flagged this today and asked for clarification/repro of the vibrance settings. TW has had a couple of typhoon days which means the teams are also playing some catch-up.

Regards to pulse width offset, my understanding is that the width offset controls the duration (or width) of the strobe pulse, essentially adjusting how long the backlight stays on between each refresh. This setting ultimately comes down to user preference depending on the emphasis on motion clarity and/or brightness.

Thank you very much, also if possible ask them to add a sharpening setting.

I think the PULSE WIDTH control is to adjust the width of the duration. I think the PULSE OFFSET adjusts forwards or backwards in time where this strobe occurs. I do not know what it is in reference to but it is called "OFFSET" for a reason. You must have a source to offset from. I believe this has something to do with the pixel response duration/ramp times. Like you can make the strobe appear right when the pixels are ramping up or perhaps on the way down? IDK. I like to nerd out on things so I am just guessing.

I hope since you flagged it there will be some interesting changes coming. I am begging for a source to a replacement part for my control joystick. If I can get a reliable backup of those I would be pretty thrilled to keep this display and perhaps consider ASUS in the future. I don't want to have to go through support to get a little component or circuit board. How can we just buy the part and replace it ourselves?

Would it also be possible to add to the list that notifications should not lock you out of the OSD temporarily. It's unbelievably frustrating trying to get into the OSD quickly only to have the screen tell me that I'm on "HDMI-3" or something and the OSD closes while I'm in it OR i can't get into the OSD at all while this stupid "HDMI-3" box stays on the screen for an annoying amount of time. I realize this is more of a creature comfort request but with a fragile joystick I'm really hating all the little stupid things that make me have to use it at all... Like it's bad enough that it's on its last leg, the display shouldn't be designed so that I have to over-use it.

Anyway thanks for hearing me out, I hope some new stuff happens soon.

any news?

dead thread??????

Asus doesn't seem to care what happens with their products, blame myself that i went for Asus instead of Acer on the same panel.

well that sucks
