PG27AQN newest FIRMWARE ISSUES "GAME VISUAL" modes (Scenery, Racing, Cinema, RTS/RPG, G-SYNC Esport

With the latest firmware update ASUS has included some new controls for the PG27AQN, one of them being "VIBRANCE" within the "Color" Menu. This control (VIBRANCE) is automatically raised to 158 (WELL ABOVE the default 100) when selecting G-SYNC Esports mode.

This is good, that is what you want for G-SYNC Esports mode. But when you DISABLE G-SYNC Esports mode you are STUCK with VIBRANCE at 158. BEFORE THE FIRMWARE UPDATE this did not happen.

BEFORE this firmware update if you changed to any other mode (I use RACING for everyday use) the VIBRANCE returns to normal saturation levels at a setting of 100 (I assume since this control was hidden from us before). Now is not the case. Please release another firmware update to fix this. I'm tired of using the fragile joystick to set this back to 100 OVER AND OVER now.

Also please give us documentation on the new controls. What kind of firmware release has no documentation explaining how to use new settings like ULMB 2 PULSE WIDTH OFFSET. Like we are just supposed to intuit what this does? No mention of VIBRANCE at all either.

Finally, there is no explanation to the changes of the highly controversial "ASPECT CONTROL" mode which, in the past, has NOT WORKED with games like Valorant who force the active signal resolution to match the maximum resolution of your display. Now it seems when you select 25" crop mode it will FORCE a resolution change in the operating system.

Can we get some clarification? There are 2 new modes within ASPECT CONTROL as well (STRETCHED) with no explanation as to how they work or what they do with the signal. I selected stretched and got some very strange active signal resolutions.

I actually did the test on blurbusters with the scrolling map. I did 360hz -14 offset. it was the clearest for me. going up in positive offsets especially past 20 is insanely blurry, going negative is a lot less but if you go too far it also gets blurry (makes sense since it's a timing offset, would be like focusing a lens both directions will go blurry eventually)

The vibrance control does not link to the game visual presets and that is an actual flaw in the firmware and needs to be addressed. When you select gsync esports mode the vibrance is CRANKED and when you're done gaming and set it back to 'normal' the vibrance STAYS CRANKED. it's not good and puts immense wear on the little flimsy joystick which already broke once for me.

they need to fix the issues i outlined because it's obvious they didn't test this firmware when they dropped it.

pulsar can't work with the old gsync hardware we have in our displays, i just watched a video outlining how nvidia is hocking this for a new system made by an outside company to handle all that. that is what helps enable the new tech to work. all i know is i'm never buying another asus product again. i'm firm on this decision and i will tell everyone i know my experiences with the motherboard and this display. i wish someone had convinced me sooner.

You said “pulsar can't work with the old gsync hardware” and I disagree. It certainly could technically work, but what Asus is doing going forward is partnering with MediaTek to make Pulsar work without an expensive Gsync module. So what's next is much cheaper than current monitors with a native Gsync module. But of course they want to sell you the new thing and won't release new features for the older (but no less good) monitor. Everything you would need is already there. There's not much we can do about it.

Maybe they tested it and thought people would want a vibrance of 158 😄 It's great to have the option to push the vibrance that far, but I also prefer it at 100. You don't have to adjust everything through the monitor's OSD, they released an app that lets you control everything. I haven't tried it myself yet, but maybe that's the solution.

The old gsync hardware is very limited in connectivity. It does not have the latest HDMI or DP if I'm not mistaken. It's just deprecated. I would hope it could work on our displays but it's not physically possible I believe.

Are u talking about Display widget? It doesn't work for me, I tried wth fresh windows install

Well, we have DSC, and even if it would only work at 240 Hz because of the limited bandwidth, 240 Hz pulsar is better than no pulsar 😄 I've seen it, and it's insane. ULMB2 and Gsync are already possible on the screen, so why shouldn't it work together? Is no Asus technical support employee reading and writing here?

They're around, I saw them respond to someone asking where to buy simple replacement parts but nothing here... I hope they fix these issues in the firmware. That would be wonderful and would maybe make me dislike this display a little less...

  • Also after this new update I can't chang to GPU scaling in NVIDIA control panel, only disply scaling works, I tried With disabling G-Sync ,still no luck😢

Could someone that has upgraded their firmware tell me if they are able to downgrade the firmware to "

MCM103" aka the previous firmware patch?
Reading this and other posts have made me unsure if i want to update my monitor if i am not able to downgrade it in the case i do not like the new changes and bugs.

Did this MCM104 firmware update fix the problem of not going into deep sleep in SDR for anyone?

Did not for me.  Still needs a HDR signal input during that power cycle.
