With the latest firmware update ASUS has included some new controls for the PG27AQN, one of them being "VIBRANCE" within the "Color" Menu. This control (VIBRANCE) is automatically raised to 158 (WELL ABOVE the default 100) when selecting G-SYNC Esports mode.
This is good, that is what you want for G-SYNC Esports mode. But when you DISABLE G-SYNC Esports mode you are STUCK with VIBRANCE at 158. BEFORE THE FIRMWARE UPDATE this did not happen.
BEFORE this firmware update if you changed to any other mode (I use RACING for everyday use) the VIBRANCE returns to normal saturation levels at a setting of 100 (I assume since this control was hidden from us before). Now is not the case. Please release another firmware update to fix this. I'm tired of using the fragile joystick to set this back to 100 OVER AND OVER now.
Also please give us documentation on the new controls. What kind of firmware release has no documentation explaining how to use new settings like ULMB 2 PULSE WIDTH OFFSET. Like we are just supposed to intuit what this does? No mention of VIBRANCE at all either.
Finally, there is no explanation to the changes of the highly controversial "ASPECT CONTROL" mode which, in the past, has NOT WORKED with games like Valorant who force the active signal resolution to match the maximum resolution of your display. Now it seems when you select 25" crop mode it will FORCE a resolution change in the operating system.
Can we get some clarification? There are 2 new modes within ASPECT CONTROL as well (STRETCHED) with no explanation as to how they work or what they do with the signal. I selected stretched and got some very strange active signal resolutions.

Yeah I agree, especially around the aspect control settings. I used to be able to set it to 25" mode, and it would only become active when a game was set to 1080p or 1332p. Now I have no idea what's going on and it looks like I need to specifically set the monitor to 25" mode when I want to use it as setting it to that now only shows the 25" resolution options in the OS/games. Very strange, I'm not sure it's working as intended.

I’ve spotted another, way more serious issue (for me anyway). Since the update, my monitor no longer detects the input from my Mac via HDMI. It doesn’t matter if I set the inputs to auto detect changes, or if I change them manually, the screen stays black. I work from home so obviously this is a huge issue. Is there a way to downgrade the firmware back to the original version?

Ok panic over on that one. I’d set the monitor to 25” mode (as I now have to do this manually instead of it being automatic on the old firmware) which is apparently incompatible with Mac. Setting it back to 27” mode sorted it.

I am also now having the issue of ULMB2 not remembering its settings for pulse width and offset. I have them set to 80 and -14 and they are returning to 100 and 0 (pulse width 100 and offset 0).
Did anyone test this firmware before releasing it? Since the last firmware update was over a year ago can we assume that this monitor is never getting fixed?
Yet another reason I'll never buy another ASUS product again. Your customer service is awful.

Same with mine, also in the new MCM please add vividpixel (sharpening option) and dedicated user profile, these are all such missing features

Do they ever actually read these? What is with this company exactly? There are so many youtube videos talking about how ASUS doesn't help customers and honestly at first I thought it was just propaganda paid for by other manufacturers but now...... I pretty much believe it.

Who knows but their customer support really sucks, paying a premium price for premium tech and getting this is a disgrace, like the dude above this is my last monitor from asus

Absolutely. I bought a whole ASUS oriented setup for my i9-13900k (z790-i gaming wifi, pg27aqn 360hz) thinking ASUS is the best to build a system on top of. The core essentials you know? Nah. This was a mistake. My z790-i gaming wifi motherboard had a cold solder joint (I have over 10 years of experience repairing electronics as a technician) on the 2nd thunderbolt port and I was horrified because I knew I would have to RMA it to get it fixed/replaced. The ONLY thing that saved me was using Amazon as my vendor. They accepted the return in usual Amazon fashion and saved me the HELLSCAPE that is ASUS customer support. Gamers Nexus did a whole video about them and honestly... they lost all quality/respect in my eyes. Buying from ASUS is like buying something on Temu or aliexpress or whatever. Yeah it might be good, but if it isn't or it's a scam or it's broken you're NEVER getting replacements. It's gambling with your money. I would rather pay a company and get what they say you're getting than ever buy from ASUS again.

So what you actually need to do is go to https://www.testufo.com/crosstalk#pps=1920&photo=alien-invasion.png&area=full&pursuit=0&fullscreen=1 and click on the green square, set the speed to 1920 or 2560 pixels/sec and now adjust the ULMB offset to your liking. I had to download the Opera browser for this to work (which I only use for this purpose). I found -13 to about -18 to be good, depends on monitor frequency.
Clearest by far is 144 Hz with -18 offset.
I like the new firmware (MCM104). I just think it's a shame that Nvidia Pulsar probably won't be released for this monitor. With the built in Gsync module it would definitely work.
I wish there was a custom mode alongside all the other modes, like Racing Mode or Gsync Esports Mode, that would save the settings. If I set everything and change the mode, I can't go back and have to set everything again.
