DisplayWidget Bugs

ShyRobbie

Display Widget has some seriously broken issues.

If the app is force closed and opened, the GameVisual settings will work for about 5-10 seconds before it locks me out of the settings and selects racing mode in the program, but doesn't apply it to the monitor, it will remain on the last setting I had set on the OSD.

Under system settings it will say that Display HDR is on, even though it is not on in windows.  If I enable HDR before opening Display Widget Center, it will cycle on and off until I open the program again.

GameVisual does not work with HDR off, cycled on or off, and will remain stuck on racing mode even though I have another setting set in the OSD.

Hotkey will work to open the OSD once, but then will refuse to accept further CTRL + Arrow inputs until I cycle it on and off in the program.  After I've cycled it on and off it will function normally, but I have to do this after every system restart or after re-launching DisplayWidget.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program, I have uninstalled and reinstalled Armoury Crate.  I have upgraded the monitor firmware with MCM108 and tried reverting to MCM106.  I have installed and updated the monitor drivers, I have tried using different USB cables to the monitor, I have tried different display port cables, I have reinstalled NVidia drivers, I have tried everything else as well.

Here is a video of the issue.  The first video is the GameVisual not working with HDR off.  The second video is it working for a few seconds before it locks everything to racing mode for some reason.

Hi @ShyRobbie @FlyingPeas @NullZero ,

Thank you for your inquiry.

Based on your problem description, we have verified it using our internal testing environment (Display Widget Center V1.1.0.0, display firmware FW_MCM108). The issues you mentioned all function properly in our tests.

To further assist us in clarifying the problem, please provide the following information:

  1. Log file provision: Please click the "Download" button on the Application Settings page. The system will generate a compressed file named "DisplayWidgetCenterLog_date.zip" on your desktop. Please provide this file to us via private message.
  2. Product serial number provision: Please provide your product serial number via private message.

Your detailed information will help us quickly clarify the problem. Thank you for your cooperation.

The requested log file and serial number have been sent via PM.  Thank you for the assistance.

The latest release v1.2.0.0 fixes a few issues:
Selectcting GameVisual settings now correctly functions and allows you to change settings.
The HDR slider is in the correct position based on if HDR is currently on or off in windows.

It does not fix these issues:
HotKey becomes disabled when launching the application and must be manually enabled on every system restart, even if DisplayWidget Center is set to start on system startup.
EZOSD Keyboard needs to be manually enabled on application start.

Hi @ShyRobbie ,

Thank you for your inquiry.

After confirmation by our internal team, regarding the HotKey function setting abnormality you are experiencing, we recommend trying the following steps to reset:

Reset settings:

  1. Please delete the HotKey folder in the executable file's folder.
  2. The default path is: C:\Program Files (x86)\ASUS\DisplayWidgetCenter\
  3. Please note: After deletion, you will need to reset the HotKey shortcuts and switch states.

Avoid settings loss:

  1. Please ensure that you close the program normally by selecting "End Process" through the system tray icon in the lower right corner.
  2. Forcefully closing the program may cause settings to not be saved correctly.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Thank you for the troubleshooting steps.  Deleting the HotKey folder seems to have resolved my issue withe the settings not saving upon system reset on my main PC.

The program will sometimes still crash when switching between inputs.  For example the DisplayWidget Center on a Rog Ally connected over USB C will crash after switching back to my DisplayPort input and back to the USB C input.
