ASUS XG27AQDMG Screen not waking up after sleep/standby

I have an issue where my monitor will not wake up after sleep/stanby when connected to my work computer and using a second monitor.

I updated the firmware to the lastest and same issue

The second monitor wakes up just fine only the asus monitor stays black and i have to turn it off then back on for it to work again.

I have the Asus monitor set as my primary monitor thinking that was the issue but it still displays a black screen and I have to power cycle.

If I connect the monitor to my gaming PC and have no other moinitors connected it works perfectlly fine and wakes from sleep. The issue seems to appear when a second monitor is connected.

Hi @bawkbawk121 ,

Thank you for your detailed report regarding the issue where your XG27AQDMG monitor stays black when waking from sleep or standby in a multi-monitor setup. We understand how inconvenient this can be, and we appreciate you sharing the details with us.

To help us investigate and assist you further, could you please check the following points:

  1. Windows Display Settings
Please ensure that the ASUS XG27AQDMG is set as the primary display in your Windows display settings. We also recommend trying to swap the output ports or change the GPU output order to see if that improves wake behavior.
  2. Input Ports and Cables
Could you let us know which inputs (HDMI or DisplayPort) each of your two monitors is using? Please also try swapping cables or changing the input ports to see if the issue is specific to a certain connection.
  3. Graphics Driver Version
Please confirm that your graphics card driver is updated to the latest version, as driver updates often address multi-monitor wake compatibility issues.
  4. Windows Power Plan
In Windows Power Options, please check if you have selected the High Performance or Best Performance power plan. This can help reduce aggressive sleep state behaviors that interfere with wake-up.
  5. Behavior When Black Screen Occurs
When the black screen occurs, does it stay black until you manually power cycle (turn off and on) the monitor? This detail will help us understand the signal detection behavior.

Additionally, please kindly share the following information with us via private message so we can assist our engineering team with further analysis:

  • Two monitor model and serial number
  • Graphics card model
  • Graphics driver version

Thank you again for your patience and cooperation.

  • The Asus monitor is set as the primary's and stated in my initial post
  • I used the HDMI cable that was included with the monitor and that temporarily fixed the issue but now it's back
  • The issue is present with my work laptop not personal gaming PC so all the drivers are up to date.
  • The power setting is set to Best performance
  • When the black screen appears it will remain black until I either turn off the monitor and turn it back on or disconnect and reconnect the HDMI cable.

In windows I have a setting where the screens will go blank after 30 minutes.
Upon waking up, the XG27AQDMG monitor connected via DP 1.4 would not wake until a power cycle.

I have disabled a bunch of things, but the main thing was USB Setup -> USB Hub ->  Off During Standby.

Is this a setting on the monitor itself or Windows? Thanks

I have a similar issue with an oled rog 27inches 360hz monitor. It wakes up from the standby, I see the motherboard screen but then goes back to standby and sometimes switches to a sort of factory mode flashing colors like in circle, blue green red white.

The setting mentioned from bawbawk is a monitor setting. I turned it off and now I am testing. This is the second monitor having the same issue. The first one had the same issue and I returned it back to amazon. I guess is something asus should fix with a firmware realese. It is sad on a 700 euros monitor.
