ASUS ROG Swift PG279QM having a consistent black screen issue

kaibr

I have scoured the web looking for a solution to this problem and I cannot find a solution anyway. To summarise, when booting the PC, in the lockscreen menu and when first logging in, watching certain videos on YouTube, going on certain websites such as an IGN guide, websites like Imgur as well as a multitude of games and occasionally apps like Steam, Battlenet etc cause my screen to flicker on and off and the display port loses signal.

I have tried all manner of fixes and nothing seems to work. I've tried enabling GSYNC, disabling GSYNC, changing colour settings, changing monitor settings, making sure HDR is disabled, making sure its enabled, using different browsers, using different ports on my GPU. Everything that I've found online does not help and this issue still persists.

The only other thing I could possibly think of would be the Display Port cable (that came with the monitor) not being able to support 1440p@240hz,  which makes zero sense if that is the case. Anyone got any pointers? The only other thread related to this that I can find is the following:

@X2Spectre's post here:

They had the same issue but could not fix it.

Hi @kaibr ,

Thank you for contacting us.

To help us better troubleshoot your ROG Swift PG279QM black screen issue, we would like you to confirm the following:

  1. Replace cable: You can try replacing the DisplayPort or HDMI cable to rule out cable failure.
  2. Switch port: Please try connecting the monitor to a different display port on your computer (such as DisplayPort, HDMI) to see if there is a problem with a specific port.
  3. Adjust refresh rate: You can try lowering the refresh rate of the monitor to see if it improves the black screen situation.
  4. Update drivers: Please ensure that your graphics card driver and monitor firmware are up to date. You can download the latest drivers from the ASUS official website.
  5. Black screen condition:
Does the black screen automatically restore to normal display?
How long does the black screen last?
What were you doing before the black screen occurred?

Additionally, please provide the following information so that we can better understand your issue:

  • Computer specifications: Motherboard (MB), CPU, GPU, RAM, Operating System and drivers version.

Your detailed information will help us find the root cause of the problem more quickly. Thank you.

Please note that response times may be delayed due to upcoming regional holidays. For urgent inquiries, please contact your local service center. Thank you for your patience.
