ASUS ROG PG32UCDM at 240.02hz Black screen issues

StarLightSoul

I got this ASUS ROG PG32UCDM a few days ago and I can say that the screen looks great but and it's fast and runs the image smoothly compared to what I used before an IPS generic without brand and it was good change but I have experienced many black screens during normal use not even playing since I was able to test it with some games and it gave me no problems in some few hours that I was able to test running some games at different resolutions but possibly some problems may appear later with use but the black screens start to appear when I use the monitor resolution at 3840 x 2160 UHD 4K using 240.02hz... using the ASUS HDMI that I supposed It's 2.1 cable that comes with the monitor then when the screen turns off after 3 minutes and doesn't show the image again as if it had been in standby mode because the led shows orange color and shows a square saying (HDMI 1 no signal) I even tried switch to HDMI 2 port but nothing works since that is what I put in Windows 11 power options (Turn my screen off) (after 3 min) to avoid overusing the screen when I am not using it or I am gone for a long time to do something else.

I am using Windows 11 Pro 24h2.

The problems start to appear when I change the 59.94hz to
240.02hz.

When I first time turned on the monitor it was at 4K at 59.94hz automatically

For some strange reason it used to give me the option of 3840 x 2160 resolution at 240.02hz - 240hz - 239.97hz - 120hz and so on but now 240hz no longer appears and only 240.02hz - 120hz appears. (even reinstalling the GPU drivers using even using DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) in safe mode for a clean install doesn't appear again the different hz options)

This problem also appears in 1920 x 1080 resolution at 240.02hz the screen also goes black when the screen is turned off after 3 minutes but using it at 1920 x 1080 at 240hz the monitor only works when using 240hz or 120hz - 60hz - 59.94hz.

When I'm in 4K at 240.02hz using
the ASUS HDMI cable I go to the monitor menu interface and go to the option (system setup) then I press the option (all reset) the monitor resets, it changes to power saving mode and the screen goes black and doesn't come back even I tried from connecting all the cables and connecting them carefully over again and nothing works... the only solution is to reset the PC and it works again...

It's not very practical to be restarting the PC many times when the monitor it reset through the menu interface in the option (system setup) and then giving the option (all reset) it only gives the image again and when it's in 4k 60hz or 59.94hz but when I restart the PC the resolution of the screen is actually 4K - 240.02hz in power saving mode but with the risk of a timeout after 3min being idle the screen doesn't show image again I already tested it.

I realized that using 4K and 240hz it worked better and the screen came back after resetting setting and using the ASUS HDMI cable that came in the box (for some strange reason Windows 11 doesn't show 4K -  240hz option anymore only shows 4K - 240.02hz)

I also get black screens when I select a different refresh rate like 239.97Hz. 119.88Hz with the same anomaly and same testing.

I have installed the PG32UCDM WHQL Driver, nothing
changed.

The monitor came with the MCM105 version.

I have updated from the MCM105 firmware to the MCM108.

Only OLED care was added and some options changed position in the menu interface after the update to the MCM108.

After I updated to the MCM108 version and there was no change in the problem of not returning the image using 240.02hz when windows turns off the screen after 3 min or even resetting the monitor or changing from standard mode to power saving mode the screen still remains black but I know the PC works because I had music music playing and the image never give image again just only resetting the PC as I mentioned before

I have the mode to turn off the screen after 3 minutes
I don't have sleep mode activated in Windows "selected option (never)"
I don't have hibernate mode activated in Windows "selected option (never)"

I have tried to test many ways but it has been complicated and honestly with so many problems I find it seems hard to believe that everything can be solved in a short time with a firmware update

My PC:
-Gigabyte B550 Aorus Elite V2 Rev.1.5
-Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO SL DDR4 3200Mhz 64gb (2x16gb + 2x16gb) compatible with
Ryzen
-AMD Ryzen 7 5700G with Radeon Graphics
-Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 Gaming OC
-MSI MEG A1300P 1300W 80+ Platinum PCIE5
-Kioxia 240GB for Windows 11 pro
-Samsung SSD 870 EVO 2TB
-NVIDIA Driver Version: 572.16 Release Date: Thu Jan 30, 2025

-Windows 11 pro 24h2 Installed UEFI mode

Currently using 1920x1080 resolution at 240hz the most stable

Do you have a 2nd monitor plugged in?

Are you using DisplayPort or HDMI? Have you tried using different ports on the 4090?

I'm using HDMI so far and with the cable that comes in the monitor box and using DisplayPort it seems to react normally but I couldn't test it for more hours running games and such, to avoid further issues I decided to return it.

It's not a solution switching to Displayport knowing the problems that are also seen using DisplayPort.

Hi!, i've detected that only happens with DLSS (DLSS 3 in avowed, for example). If you enalble DLSS, you'll get the problem (random black screens), if you disable DLSS, yo don't get the problem... i think that it's driver related, from NVIDIA. I'm using latest drivers 572.47 in a 4090 RTX (Asus Rog Strix). Only happens with DLSS, i'm using HDMI 2.1... maybe it happens with DP too, i've not tested it... but for sure, if you enable DLSS with HDR and HDMI 2.1 (in HDR or BOLBY Vision), you'll get the problem.

EDIT: for more info, i'm using two monitors (both from ASUS) and this as "main" monitor, with latest MCM108 firmware, and the problem persists... but i think that is a DLSS issue with this monitor...

ASUS PLEASE FIX IT. Thank you.
