Asus PG32UCDM firmware MCM 105 problem with peak brightness on Display port

Hi all. I have a problem that I haven't been able to solve for 2 months. The Windows calibration tool in game and console mode without gain shows 860 nits peak brightness in a completely dark room. The cable is original, the firmware is latest, Windows 11 is updated, the drivers for the RTX 4080 video card are updated. I tried different DP ports on the video card, changed the Hertz to 120, it didn’t help. And today I decided to try an HDMI cable and was surprised by what I saw. Gaming and console mode shows 1060 nits at peak. What could be the problem? Please help..

Hi @Wonderman777 ,

Thank you for contacting us.

To better assist you with your display brightness issue, we would like you to confirm the following:

  1. When did the issue start: When did this issue start occurring? Did it start after updating the display firmware?
  2. OSD settings: Have you restored the display's OSD (On-Screen Display) settings to factory defaults? This can rule out any issues caused by the display's own settings.
  3. Brightness difference: Could you please provide us with screenshots or a video (MP4 format) showing the brightness difference when using different cables? This will help us determine if the issue is with the cable.
  4. Cable testing: Have you tried using a different DP cable to connect the display? Was the result the same?
  5. Firmware version: What is the current firmware version of your display? You can try restoring the display to factory settings to see if the problem is resolved.

To help us understand your issue better, please provide the following information:

  • Graphics card model:
  • Graphics card driver version:
  • Windows version:
  • Troubleshooting steps you've already tried:

Providing this information will help us find the root of the problem more quickly. Thank you.

Providing detailed device specifications (MB/CPU/GPU/PSU, etc.) and the respective driver versions, OS version, and BIOS version will help us analyze the issue more effectively.

Thanks for the answer.

1. The problems started immediately after updating from firmware 103 to 105. On the previous version, like everyone else, the peak brightness was about 460 nits.
2. Yes, I reset the OSD to factory settings and unfortunately it did not help.
3. I was unable to take either a video or a screenshot using OBS Studio, since it does not show the true state of affairs in the recording.

4. I don't have a second DP Port cable, only your original one.
5. Firmware version 105. Yes, I did a factory reset, but it didn’t help.

I will provide you with screenshots of all my specifications, please take a look, I think this should help.

All the actions that I took were described in the message above.
