ASUS PG27AQDP perma black screen after powering off/on

So my brand new PG27AQDP gets stuck with a permanently black screen if I power it off and on again (see video)

I originally returned the monitor after having this exact issue. Got a replacement model, tested turning it off and on out of the box and it was fine, but after a few hours of usage I decided to try it again, and the power led lights up, but the screen does not and remains black.

The only way to fix it right now is to pull the power cable for a while (currently 25 sec is enough), re-insert it and then it boots normally by itself.

It seems unlikely to me that I got 2 "lemon" models back to back, so I want to rule out it's anything with my setup before I return this one too.

Anyone here who knows what could be causing this?

Some more problems:
- Tried pixel cleaning manually and it never finished. Kept blinking orange (i gave up after 10 min and went to bed)
- Brightness slider has no effect, 0 is the same as 100

This is the case on both monitors I picked up.

Hi @samsterini ,

Thank you for your inquiry.

To better understand the display black screen issue you are experiencing, please perform the following tests and provide information:

  1. Power supply test: Please try using different power outlets to rule out power supply issues.
  2. Cross-testing: If possible, please try connecting the display to another computer or graphics card to confirm whether the problem still exists.
  3. Multi-display test: Have you tested both PG27AQDP displays and confirmed that both have the same problem?
  4. Problem triggering method: What operations or methods do you use to trigger the black screen problem? Please provide detailed reproduction steps.
  5. Problem video provision: Please provide a video of the black screen problem occurring for our reference. (Please provide in MP4 file format)
  6. Background sound confirmation: Does the background sound continue to run when the black screen occurs?

Please kindly confirm the above information and perform the tests so that we can further analyze the problem.

Thank you for your cooperation.

  1. Tested different power outlets. Same issue
  2. Tested connecting the display to my laptop. Same issue
  3. Yes, same issue on both
  4. Use the monitor for some time (like an hour or so), turn the monitor off with the power button. Attempt to turn it on with the power button. The LED power indicator will turn on but the screen will remain statically black as if it was turned off. See video.

  6. Yes, the sound and PC is still running when the black screen occurs. Connecting my old monitor still works when this happens.

Furthermore, the issues described in this thread also apply to my monitor (both copies I've received)
