Make Future Mouse Feature Suggestions Here!

Hi all,

ASUS ROG is requesting our best suggestions for ROG product improvements. As a moderator I won’t have the ability to implement your suggestions but I will be picking some of the best to highlight for the ROG team so they know what matters to us, the community.

Some guidelines for this thread:
1) Keep it positive and constructive. In most of the forum I try to allow you all to express your thoughts freely (within reason). This thread has the express purpose of generating constructive suggestions so I will be moderating this thread and deleting posts that do not contribute to that goal.
2) Keep it concise and on topic. Some minor discussion regarding a specific suggestion is welcome but if you would like to have a longer conversation I ask you start an additional thread and link it in your post here. You can also request a moderator move your posts if you have need.
3) Try for realistic ideas that appeal broadly to gamers. A small improvement on an existing ROG product is much more likely to get chosen than an entirely new product that only matters to a small number of people.
4) Support your favorites! You don’t have to come up with a suggestion to help. If you see something you like, quote it and say so! More support for an idea improves its chances.

EDIT:
I’ve updated the titles for these feedback threads to reflect that this is primarily for *future* products. Sorry for the lack of clarity. While there is a chance some ideas could be implemented via software updates it’s most likely any suggestions would be rolled into new products.
Also, these threads are not for issue reporting and such posts won’t reach the right people. Please post issues in the ROG Care > Hardware & Software Support section. Or contact ASUS support via phone or email for immediate assistance.

We don’t need them set to that function by default, we just need the *OPTION TO USE THOSE ASSIGNMENTS AT ALL* next time i i reinstall/revert to default games that use mouse 4-10 by default, assuming i’m still using this mouse, i’ll provide the screenshots. As of now i’ve had to adapt to this garbage keystroke mapping, and nothing is still default but REALLY causes problems.
Examples:

PTT on discord is mapped to ctrl-num -. If i have my PTT key pressed, and hit what should be 1-9 with no modifier at the same time, it registers as ctrl+(1-9) instead, which is an entirely different action bar. I use default 1-9, ctrl 1-9, alt 1-9, and shift 1-9 for different action bars.

Example 2:

I use ctrl, alt, or shift modified clicks (right, middle, and left) on an in game frame. Again, because i have to assign obscure modifier keys in armory crate to not overide other default bindings, if i’m holding down my PTT key and no-modifier left click on the frame, it ctrl modifies the click instead. Overall i have 20 keys bound each with unmodified, alt modified, ctrl modified, and shift modified variants *on my tartarus alone*. Adding more complication with BS requirements for keystroke binding is a complete FUBAR situation. Just add the option to bind mouse 4-10 to these buttons without some stupid keystroke assignment workaround.

I made this short video to show what I would like to be able to do. Hopefully this helps explain it.  https://drive.google.com/file/d/18D9CHhFvwUosDoJ8O81DYtjHl7g1dgAF/view?usp=drive_link

The permissions are restricted, can you lift them?

Sorry, it should be good now.

Sorry, I still don't see anything particularly difficult or complicated in the video, if you assign the numpad keys in Armoury Crate first as I previously illustrated, then you can easily assign whichever side button you want in that game - bind and it's done.

It may be easier to remember is you assign num 4,5,6 near the rear, and 7,8,9 at the front.

In the video I was showing you what I wanted to be able to do with the spatha x. I want the side buttons on the spatha x to be mouse buttons that I can assign to controls in game. All of the buttons on the Spatha X should register as mouse buttons. Right now even though the mouse has 12 buttons only 5 are considered buttons by games. I should not have to assign number keys or anything else in software to be able to use the side buttons. I'm not asking for you to remove the other options. I'm asking you to give us one more option. In the drop downs for the side buttons let us select something like "mouse button 4" or if we select "disable" let it disable the software without disabling the button itself.

Whether those buttons will be implemented or not isn't up to me or any one person, and it certainly will not be done in a week.

What I'm suggesting is a solution you can apply now and is consistent with other mouse manufacturers. And as mentioned before, creating mouse 4, 5, 6 buttons will not guarantee that games will recognize them as such. You many check the complaints on Steam and competitors' support pages to see for yourself. We do have to take into consideration the risk of adding those buttons - despite the fact that games need to support the buttons, it is almost guaranteed that users will come here instead to complain about a broken product.

Do you mean you want to create a new disable button which closes Armoury Crate? If you want to minimize everything, I suggest to assign the Stealth shortcut

I appreciate it. I know you guys are just taking feedback and I appreciate the responses. I'm not talking about closing armory or using stealth. I meant simply that the buttons could be used without any function attached to them by the armory software. Thank you for even considering this and I appreciate you trying to help us with the workarounds.

Thanks for the feedback.

The Disable function should do exactly what you want - nothing. Is that not the case for you?

When I select disable it turns the buttons off completely making them unusable that is not what I want. When I first saw it I thought it would turn off the software function on each button and let me treat them like mouse button 5,6,7, ...etc. That's why I originally found this forum because I was looking for a way to make them work as mouse buttons 5,6,7,...etc.
