It’s all other this thread: Mouse4 to Mouse10

“Mouse 4” “mouse 5” “mouse 6” “mouse 7” in my case. These are default options for most gaming mice, the games and apps i use all support them, and having to map obscure multi key keyboard bindings to do the same function without overriding regular keybindings is clunky at best.

Not to mention that EVERY change You wanna make imply launching AC and changing the mappings instead of assigning MouseX in-game…
Just the idea of trying another conf makes me so tired that I just don’t try…
(Yes I’m frustrated)

I apologize for my ambiguity. What I mean by "freely assign" is the ability to go into a game and bind one of these side buttons to a control in a game. For example, I would like to put my reload as the top right button without having to go into armory and assign that button to the keyboard "r." The way it's set up now it seems more complicated than it needs to be. I have to go into the every game I play and reassign keybinds to match the mouse instead of being able to simply press a mouse side button to bind it. It's a pain. While reload is usually the same in most games, it's not always the case for other controls like push to talk, interact, or pickup. To make the mouse work the same across every game requires you to go in and often reset multiple keybinds instead of simply pressing a mouse button and assigning it. I hope this helps to clarify.

I play games and so I know perfectly well that it gets a bit repetitive when remapping keys all the time, especially when I don't use the typical WASD layout. However, default shortcuts in games are not always consistent, it's impossible for us to say - okay, this button will be PTT for every game out there, and that for reload. Games dictate what shortcuts they wish to be default, there's no standard defined. Wouldn't it be easier if you assign numpad keys then map them in games?
Yes, I realize that some of you still want 'mouse 4, 5, 6..." instead since 104 keys on the keyboard may not be enough, I have raised this internally, but I had to also mention to the team the number of people requesting it - who are the same 5 or so people posting here. Although it seems basic and simple to do on the surface, such a request will affect all mice currently available and on the roadmap, not to mention the people with much older products requesting for the option too.

It would be great if what you have pictured could be made an option in the software. The ability to set the side buttons in the software as just mouse 4,5,6,7... would be nice. Thank you for your responses. I appreciate the dialogue.

I appreciate the response, but TBH, this is an issue thats costing Asus sales. If a g502 lightspeed had the buttons i needed i would have returned my spatha x and bought one. Many of my in game friends looking for a new mouse have asked me about my experience with this one, and I cannot recommend it, because these are functions literally all ~60 of us require. So they don’t even look at your hardware seriously and pick a brand that follows the same standard design that literally every reputable peripheral company follows. I love the mouse, except this particular issue. And this is a *big* issue. I will not be purchasing any other asus peripherals until its resolved. Most of my pc builds are *entirely* asus as well, and the general “oh well just assign a keyboard keystroke to it” attitude is starting to make me re-think buying anything asus for the rig i build next year.

To be clear, you can already do exactly what you want without mouse 4, 5, 6. Just assign some symbols which will never cause conflict in games. You only need to do this once and you're set.
Remapping buttons in any game is a given with any mouse on the market. Correct me if I'm wrong, but no games available whatsoever have Mouse 4, 5, 6, etc. assigned by default, right?

Incorrect. WoW has default mouse 4-10 assignments. I know a few from my steam library do as well. I had to try several ctrl-numpad combonations before i found some that did not cause conflict, and sometimes they still do if i have my PTT key down and hit another key also bound with ctrl.
Arguing with people using your product and giving you feedback under the idea that tiny number of current and prospective users that find this forum is the extent of people with this complaint is not a good practice. I found it after searching to figure out why my $150 mouse was a POS because it didn’t let me assign mouse 4+ to the side buttons. I kept it because this thread made me optimistic a firmware update would be dropped to fix this shortcoming that *literally every single other reputable multi button gaming mouse on the market does not have*. Had I known the request for feedback was just looking for an echo chamber of the developers own ideas instead of a genuine question for how to fix your product shortcomings I would have returned it and adapted to a different setup from another manufacturer. I’ll make sure to note that in my product reviews.

Can you please provide some screenshots in either specific games or device page UIs to show any mice that has mouse 6,7,8 set as default? That would help if I want to pass this to colleagues to assess.
As far as I can tell, it is not a "basic function" and I can't find any mouse which applies mouse 6, 7, 8 by default. Making them default does not make sense to me for these reasons:
G502 does not have mouse 6, 7, 8 set to default, can you take a screenshot to show where you can assign them as such?
This MMO mouse does not apply mouse 6, 7, 8 as default either, number and numpad keys are used.
Another MMO mouse,
I am not insinuating that users are the problem, and my suggestion is not a workaround, this method is consistent with what competing mice are offering.
