Make Future Mouse Feature Suggestions Here!

Hi all,

ASUS ROG is requesting our best suggestions for ROG product improvements. As a moderator I won’t have the ability to implement your suggestions but I will be picking some of the best to highlight for the ROG team so they know what matters to us, the community.

Some guidelines for this thread:
1) Keep it positive and constructive. In most of the forum I try to allow you all to express your thoughts freely (within reason). This thread has the express purpose of generating constructive suggestions so I will be moderating this thread and deleting posts that do not contribute to that goal.
2) Keep it concise and on topic. Some minor discussion regarding a specific suggestion is welcome but if you would like to have a longer conversation I ask you start an additional thread and link it in your post here. You can also request a moderator move your posts if you have need.
3) Try for realistic ideas that appeal broadly to gamers. A small improvement on an existing ROG product is much more likely to get chosen than an entirely new product that only matters to a small number of people.
4) Support your favorites! You don’t have to come up with a suggestion to help. If you see something you like, quote it and say so! More support for an idea improves its chances.

EDIT:
I’ve updated the titles for these feedback threads to reflect that this is primarily for *future* products. Sorry for the lack of clarity. While there is a chance some ideas could be implemented via software updates it’s most likely any suggestions would be rolled into new products.
Also, these threads are not for issue reporting and such posts won’t reach the right people. Please post issues in the ROG Care > Hardware & Software Support section. Or contact ASUS support via phone or email for immediate assistance.

How can You still be trying to explain us we're the ones doing it wrong?
I already started to look for a new mouse (for sure not Asus) since Asus don't seem to be willing to see the problem.
It's impressive how wrong Asus understands buttons assignement...

Nobody's talking about willing to have default assignements, but to have the choice to assign it to itself.
We don't want to try to find some combinations of keys that will never be user by any program, just the ones acutally made for this exact purpose: Mouse4, Mouse5...

In my case L-Shift+1-6 are already assigned in some of my games...

We already found some workarounds but they're just workarounds... for an expensive high-end product... and acutally in the exact field it's made for!

Please stop explaining us We're the problem.

This was just an example. Nobody has questioned the feedback, it might seem somewhat roundabout in the event direct mapping works, however, we're talking 6 programmable buttons. In my experience, some games (older indie games and some newer ones) refuse to see beyond 3 - which could create more of an issue in this case. So I can appreciate having the ability to assign them to foreign functions. I'd fully expect to receive feedback to the contrary if that facility was removed entirely.  In any case, @MasterC has said the feedback has been raised internally. 👍

My point was that it's almost impossible to find 100% unused keys. (even more if You use programs that need system-wide shortcuts like Discord or OBS)

To be clear: the ability to assign almost any key combos and other actions or macros is definitely a great feature and its presence isn't questionned here.

That's exactly my point. Default shortcuts in game are not always the same. No one is asking y'all to try and guess which short cut a game will use for something like PTT. What were asking is for the ability to go to the keybinds in game, select something like PTT, and then click one of the side buttons to assign it in game. Instead of having to remap the game to match pre-set symbols from armory. It's far easier to assign a mouse button in game than it is to go through and assign all these symbols, from armory, in game.

Right now what you're asking us to do is to try and guess which symbols and combinations the game developer won't use and hope we don't mess up some keybind they already have in game. For example, Escape for Tarkov uses many key combinations that include things like left or right control and some other key to make things happen in game. In my experience, very few games have mouse side buttons assigned to anything by default.

This is basic mouse functionality. It should already be on a $150 mouse and the fact that it isn't seems like a huge oversight. I get that Asus wants people to use their software so make it an option in the software. I will gladly use armory if it gives me the options I need and want. Also, it should affect every mouse in the pipeline and already produced. You shouldn't ship a mouse that has extra buttons without this basic feature.

We shouldn't start talking about Armory Crate 😅

The primary concern expressed by many of us isn't about the default settings of the mouse but revolves around the limitations in the software's key binding capabilities. The software currently restricts users to only binding keys that are present on their keyboard.

While I don't own a 60% keyboard, they are becoming increasingly popular in the gaming community and this approach seems to overlook such users. For these users, the ability to bind additional functions to mouse buttons is even more critical, as they have fewer keys available. Is this Asus's fault? No, and nobody should blame Asus for the keyboard a user chooses. Currently, the only work around I can find or come up with to bind "obscure" key binds (or mouse buttons) to any given Asus mouse is to use a third party application such as JoytoKey or reWASD to bind any given key to said mouse, and even on a mouse such as the Spatha X only 5 buttons are actually recognized, which obviously becomes very limited for a mouse with more than 5 possible combinations.

I believe the options available to us against a mouse such as the Spatha X are an over-simplification of the software which doesn't allow a user to customize the mouse to their desires. Even for any other mouse that may/may not have more than 5 buttons, it just feels.. limited in terms of customization.

The lack of options available to me in the software did not make the hardware that I wanted to love so much worth the money and I've already returned it at this point, so maybe my argument here is moot.. but reading the suggestions given by the mods/admins in other threads and this thread since 2022 did not make me feel like any changes were going to happen soon. Judging by the others in here, I wouldn't be surprised if there is a larger majority of users that didn't even bother to search for such a thread and decided to move on to a mouse that came with software that allowed for more customizations and gave the user the ability to change the behavior of their peripherals to their hearts content.

1 - look at Logitech Onboard Memory Manager, then make something like it. Small, fast and doesn't even install.

2 - The ROG Harpe Ace is almost perfect. Make a version 10% smaller. Make other shapes with the same perfect execution. (pulsefire haste 2 shape)

3 - 4/8k polling option

Let us assign Profile button to any button we want and also allow us to put Rapid Fire Button to any button we want.

It's been years and we still need this BASIC function which EVERY OTHER MOUSE has - just let us bind m4-m10 buttons or at least F13-F24 as even ******ty razer mice can bind

true i mean it’s time like how long is it without them adding it ? i think i can say we all need mose button 4 to 10 would be a QOL update like almost every mouse has it even the cheap ones for 6$ come on asus pls add it
