Keris II Ace and Harpe Ace Mini disconnects randomly only on 8Khz

Hi.

I own both mice, when they are set to 8Khz wireless mode, they would randomly stop working after 3-4 minutes which requires to turn off and on the mouse. Unplugging then replugging the dongle does nothing, the mouse itself has to be rebooted when this happens and then will continue to work normally, but will stop working again after 3-4 minutes until I reboot the mouse. When set to 4Khz the issue goes away.

I own other 8Khz mice such as Viper Mini SE, Viper V3 Pro, Deathadder V3 Pro, Deathadder V3 Hyperspeed, OP1 8K, Logitech Superlight 2, Superlight 2 Dex and Finalmouse UltralightX. None of these other mice have issues with 8Khz compared to my two ASUS mice.

Both are updated to latest firmware and the 8Khz booster dongle is also updated. The 8Khz booster came included with the Keris II Ace.

The 8Khz booster is also warm to the touch, maybe that is related?

I updated mine (via Armoury Crate, not AC Gear) and it seems to have fixed the issue. For some reason AC Gear does not know there is an update but Armoury Crate does.

Also it's important to note that the mouse must be connected via cable and set to wired mode for update to work.

When the mouse disconnects, I noticed the red light in the sensor disappears even though the mouse is ON, when rebooting the mouse the red light inside the sensor appears again, so it seems to be a mouse issue not the dongle.

Hello ApolloEleven

Have you updated your ROG Keris II Ace and ROG Harpe Ace mini to support the ROG Omni Receiver?

1) Install the ROG Polling Rate Booster firmware update for the Keris II Ace - ROG Keris II Ace | Gaming mice|ROG - Republic of Gamers|ROG Global (asus.com)

2) Install Armoury Crate Gear for the Keris II Ace to support the ROG Omni Receiver, do the firmware updates. - ROG Keris II Ace | Gaming mice|ROG - Republic of Gamers|ROG Global (asus.com)

3) Install Armoury Crate Gear for the ROG Harpe Ace Mini to support the ROG Omni Receiver, do the firmware updates. - ROG Harpe Ace Mini | Gaming mice|ROG - Republic of Gamers|ROG Global (asus.com)

Does your mice still disconnect after updating them?

Hi, yes this is what the Harpe Ace Mini (Armoury Crate GEAR app) shows:
(The Keris II Ace in the "Keris II Ace Armour Crate Gear" app will show something similar)

Also small correction, when the mouse disconnects, the mouse is still ON, it is just that the sensor infrared-light becomes dim because it is not on a surface, it lights up again if placed on a surface briefly, but the mouse is not processing any inputs.

I did some experiment and found out a way to replicate it. Please see the attached video: https://drive.google.com/file/d/12ztIA2dCNLS-9w9QK7gXQdPXsVLULobc/view?usp=sharing (I recommend muting the video because of the glass mousepad noise)

In the video I was able to intentionally make it disconnect 3 separate times, I was having trouble replicating the 2nd time, but the 1st and 3rd disconnect happened quite quickly.  1st disconnect at 0:10, 2nd disconnect at 1:09, 3rd disconnect at 1:28 of the video.

You can also see the white/grey 8Khz booster left-side of the mouse. I use a Razer app called "PollingRateTesterApp_v1.00.01", you can see me move the mouse so that it hovers above 7100Hz. It will disconnect after a while and we can see it stop tracking my movement. Only when the mouse is turned OFF > ON it will work again. It seems to disconnect when it hits a certain frequency at around 7400Hz (you can see this in the graph)

You don't need the PollingRateTesterApp_v1.00.01 app to make the mouse disconnect, it will happen on any game, I could replicate this in Overwatch 2 and CS2.

The mousepad used is the Razer Atlas glass mousepad.

I don't experience this issue on 4Khz mode.

Thanks.

One important thing to note is that I am holding the left click button while doing this, thanks.

I like glass mouse pads, I have the ROG Moonstone Ace XL. It never develops any drag and always feels like a brand new mouse pad.

I can't speak for the Harpe ACE Mini as I don't have this mouse. I do have the Keris II Ace and at the moment, it supports up to 4000Hz, an update is coming soon for 8000Hz wireless. I'm not having any disconnection issues with the Keris II Ace.

Do you have connection issues with your Keris II Ace?

Yes, the Keris II Ace had a recent firmware update to enable 8Khz that was released a month ago, only on 8Khz it will disconnect like the Harpe Ace Mini does (exact same issue). I also do have a Moonstone Ace and an Artisan Hayate Otsu (cloth) mousepad, it disconnects on those pads too, so I don't think it is mousepad related.

Hi @ApolloEleven

Just a suggestion, have you tried with both polling rate boosters to see if the same thing occurs?

I only have one polling rate booster which came with the Keris II Ace (Harpe Ace Mini has no booster). Buying a separate booster is not available yet (not on sale to buy anywhere).

That's fine, was just if you had a secondary one spare. Can you confirm how often the mouse stops? Does simply cycling the connection switch or plugging in the Omni again resolve the issue?

Can you also confirm whether or not you're on an Insider Preview build of W11 or just the current 23H2 build?
