Asus ROG Gladius II unusable after firmware upgrade

Good afternoon,

I have 2 peripherals :
- Asus ROG Strix Flare
- Asus ROG Gladius II

At boot, the ROG Armoury application prompted me to upgrade the firmwares of the devices. I accepted and let the application proceed. The operation was successful for the keyboard but not for the mouse (I had a message that the firmware upgrade failed for the Gladius II). Right after the upgrade failure, the mouse stopped being detected (no led, no sensivity).

When I look into the peripherals manager, I can see that the mouse is detected as a disk drive named "NXP LPC1XXX IFLASH USB Device" with inside a file called "firmware.bin" (with a size of 128KB). [See Picture 1]

When I look into ROG Armoury Application, the mouse has disappeared. [See Picture 2]

I already tried some things :
- Plugging into another computer, it's all the same.
- Plugging/Unplugging, it's all the same.
- I tried to use the tool called "Gladius II FW Update Tool" (version 2.0.2.2), I get the error message "CAN_NOT_GET_HANDLE". [See Picture 3]

The only thing I can tell for sure is that the problem came from the application Armoury, which couldn't upgrade the firmware properly.
Of course the 2 years warranty has expired recently (planned obsolescence?).
I have a Razer DeathAdder that lasted +10 years and is still usable today...

I'm out of options, do you guys have any leads to solve this?

Thank you and have a nice day.

Can you provide this firmware to me? My mice just died since april, I tried to fix it trying everything.

The computer recognize the mice, but it seems the firmware is broken, I think I need to reinstall it manually, I've tried use the Firmware Fix Tool, it "works", but still firmware v0195 version, I've already tried to press up the left, right and scroll button, but it always error the firmware update.

Sorry for my bad english, I'm kinda rust, I'm not american.

Just happened to me same as the first post
I manually calibrated the mouse and then it died, mouse not detected on armory crate and a folder opens with firmware.bin opens everytime I plug in the mouse.
Downloader the tool but didnt do anything, in fact the system doesn't even detect it anymore.

seems like the mouse is dead totally.

I still hope it can be fixed.

Hello MasterRedLux

Try resetting your ROG Gladius II.

1) Connect the usb-c cable to a usb port on your pc, let it disconnected from your ROG Gladius II.

2) Press and hold down, left click, right click and scroll click.

3) With all three buttons held down, connect the cable.

Does resetting your ROG Gladius II bring it back to life?

I tried it and this comes out.

Ok, this could be normal after the reset.

Disconnect your ROG Gladius II from your pc and reconnect it.

Then check device manager, is your ROG Gladius II showing there?

I checked it but it doesn’t show in there.

There is still hope and here is what I'd try.....

1) In device manager, uninstall all HID Compliant mouse listings and reboot.

2) Uninstall Armoury Crate using the uninstall tool. In the link below select your operating system, click "Show all" in blue, the uninstall tool is the third download. Use this even if you've uninstalled from programs.

 Armoury Crate - Support (asus.com)

3) Once uninstalled, install Armoury Crate version 3.2.6.1 (first download), then go the update center and check for updates.

When uninstalling/reinstalling, you can let the cable connected to your mouse and a pc usb port, with the switch on the mouse set to wired mode. Connect the wireless dongle to a pc usb port. Updating should go smooth.

Is all well after trying this?

I did that and it won't detect the mouse and worst is that it doesn't detect my gpu too.
I tried using the armoury package install and it detects my gpu. I'm pretty sure now that the problem is the armory crate newest versions. And the problem with the mouse happened as well after I updated armory crate.

Im thinking of accessing the crp disabled folder that comes out before and replacing the defective firmware.bin with the correct one might help, but I don't know how to access that folder anymore since it doesnt pop out everytime I plugged in the cable.

If you can find a way to access it and send me a non defective firmware file would be our best chance.
I searched about this and found out in some other mouse brand, that's what they do they just replace the firmware.bin in the CRP DISABLED folder (NXP LPC1XXX IFLASH USB Device).
