Some keys that no longer work (I-K-L)

G3Ps

Terrible rating for ASUS support.

25 months ago I purchased an ASUS ROG CLAYMORE II from the Asusshop website.

A few days ago the 'I-K-L' keys no longer worked and every now and then when the 'I' key worked it repeated itself endlessly.

I called support on the phone, after various explanations, they told me not to worry that, even if the warranty had expired 1 month ago, I would have been contacted for a solution.

The next day I received an email saying that nothing could be done because it was out of warranty, I replied that for more than 200 euros of hardware maybe an additional assistance/option would have been nice. I was told that it was not under warranty.

Browsing the various forums I understand that 90% of the time it could be a problem of swelling of the internal battery, AFTER 24 MONTHS, and use of 2/3 hours a day, new keyboard I state, no discoloration of the keys, never dropped, never carried around.

I disassembled the keyboard as per the information on the forum and in fact the battery is swollen by 3 centimeters, 20 euros and I'll buy another one.

Now.
Since it is a major defect and recognized around the Web but how the hell is it possible that assistance does not care so much about a piece that deteriorates so much that it swells 3 centimeters with the possibility that it could explode between a person's fingers?
Even if it is out of warranty it would have been an act of basic intelligence to inform the customer of the possible battery problem, not so much for the possible malfunction as for the possible explosion or release of acid liquids.

Asus should be reported in order not to foresee a recall campaign on this serious, dangerous and now known problem on a large scale.

HOWEVER if you have problems with the keys on this piece of tin that costs more than €200 it is probably the battery that is swelling. Stop, disassemble the keyboard if it is not under warranty and buy a new battery for €20.

Hello G3Ps

I've seen a couple reports of batteries swelling, but it's rare.

To help avoid any battery swelling, I use 2.4GHz wireless mode and only connect the cable for charging or doing an update in Armoury Crate.

Just wondering if you were using your keyboard with the cable constantly connected.

Hi Nate,

I have always used the keyboard connected to the cable and the Wi-Fi switch on Off.

Nowhere is it written that this is not good, however I wrote this post to highlight the indifference of some post-sales especially on known problems, you say that cases are rare but if you go around other forums the cases are not so rare, you must also count those who do not investigate the problems or who send the product directly under warranty. I believe that the problem of the battery swelling exists and should not be taken lightly, that's all.
