Hello,
I've a strange problem with the multiwheel. Each time I boot my computer the keyboard directly setup on multimedia functions and when I use multiwheel, I can't go on the system volume settings (can go on multimedia, brightness and "M" for macro I think). Very frustrating because that's the only function I want to use with the wheel.
Someone has a clue please ?
Thanks,
Regards

Hello,
Yes, It's exactly my problem I must reset It at each boot.
1) I'm using the ROG Theta 7.1
2) No, USB-C (this model doesn't have a wireless mode)
3) No other application relative to sound
4) Yes
5) Yes, and I can control volume by the headset command too
6) The problem is there when I boot my computer, I don't think there is really something which triggers the volume malfunction

I looked at the keyboard's behavior at booting :
- Power on the PC : the volume system on the keyboard is lighted
- Windows is booted and user session opened : always on volume system and the multiwheel is OK (the volume can be modified)
- When the system sync the lighting (I've got lots of Asus gear with everything on Aura Sync and I see them all blinking) the problem occurs (the led lit on the keyboard is the multimedia and I cannot switch to system volume anymore)
All these steps occur when I reset keyboard before. If I boot without reset the malfunction occur when PC boot (the multimedia led is lit and I cannot switch on volume system with the multiwheel).

I don't know why, but I can see two "blinkings" that look like Lighting sync. In the first one, all is OK with multiwheel. On the second blink few seconds later, the multiwheel cannot be used for system volume...
I tried after login on user session (Microsoft Account) and without login, same results.

Interesting : when the second blinking occurs, I looked at task manager and saw "LightingService.exe" was working. It's a service named "ASUS AURA SYNC lighting service". I disabled It and restarted my computer, no more problem with keyboard, but event log spammed of errors relatives to Asus systems (and of course no more lighting options in Armoury Crate). I started the service manually and had only one blinking for gears lighting sync, not two. And the volume system by multiwheel is always functional.

I installed the keyboard on a laptop with Armoury Crate and didn't have the problem. I uninstalled and reinstalled on my main computer and the problem is still there...

So, for the moment the only solution I've found is to unplug keyboard before boot and wait until all lighting sync is done, then plug it.

Thank you for all the information.
I don't know if this would have any effect, but are you using the usb-c to usb-a adapter that came with your ROG Theta 7.1 headset?
Try the usb-c to usb-a adapter and see if the problem disappears.
It seems you're having issues with the Armoury Crate lighting service. Have you installed Aura Sync and Armoury Crate? Uninstall Aura Sync if you have.
Check in windows you have "Compatible apps in the foreground always control lighting" set to On.

Hello,
"Compatible apps in the foreground always control lighting" is set to On.
The Theta 7.1 is directly connected to the computer by his USB-C wire, without adapter (and the keyboard is connected by the usb-c to usb-a wire which is supplied).
"It seems you're having issues with the Armoury Crate lighting service. Have you installed Aura Sync and Armoury Crate? Uninstall Aura Sync if you have." Do you mean Aura Creator ?

Thank you
No, Aura Creator is part of Armoury Crate, you can let this installed.
I have the ROG Delta S Animate headset, it also came with a usb-c to usb-a adapter cable. I have the usb-c adapter cable connected and is how I'm using mine. Give this a try and see if things get any better and if the volume function stays in Armoury Crate.
For good measure, after connecting the adapter cable, uninstall your ROG Theta 7.1 from device manager (under sound, video and game controllers), then reboot and check Armoury Crate for updates.
I have my fingers crossed this fixes the issue, or at least helps in some way.

Ah I see, the Aura Sync "standalone" program. No I didn't install It because the lighting is managed by AC.
I used the adapter but unfortunately nothing changes (by the way the system automatically reinstalled the headset after reboot, no need to go check updates in AC).
