ROG Claymore II

Hello guys. I just got ROG Claymore II keyboard [RX blue], and it's AWESOME! But i can't seem to update firmware. I will put the message i get from ARMORY II V5 in attachments. I'm doing what it asks, but it's always the same message. I don't intend to use this keyboard in wireless mode, only over usb (Type-c to Type-c, since my motherboard have a Type-c port). New firmware update and ghost writing ("g" letter) randomly every 5 mns.
I updated this morning my claymore II through Armoury crate and I have this new bug since then, the letter "g" is spammed even without writing on my keyboard, this is really annoying either when I work, I have to delete them (those "g" spammed by 5 or 6 in a row are appearing every 3/4 mns), or when I play, everything is alright until the g button (grenade preset key for instance) is spammed ...

Firmware version : 30.12.03
Numpad : 2.00.01.

I had that bug even when I was writing that post. Please release a new update/firmware correcting this bug!

Edit : Seems the bug disappeared when I desynced Asus Aura from my keyboard (static light instead). I will keep this post updated until there is a patch correcting it.

Any news since the last firmware update ? I still can not use Aura sync on my keyboard without having the bug mentioned above ... ???

Hi Tekamine,

That is strange that Aura Sync is causing the g key to spam.

Two easy things you could try is...

Reset your ROG Claymore II by pressing and holding the Fn+ESC key for 10-15 seconds, then check Armoury Crate, it will likely want to update.

If that doesn't help..

Uninstall Armoury Crate with the uninstall tool and reinstall.

The Armoury Crate uninstall tool is found at the ASUS Support Center.

Select your operating system and click "See all downloads", it's the third download.

Hey Nate,

I will try this and come back to you, Armoury crate being such a heavy software with a lot of third party services attached to it, It would annoy me to uninstall it (even tho I have my motherboard and other Asus profiles saved on my computer). Still, last time I did it clean, never could reinstall it properly.

Another question Nate, do you know if Asus is intending to release double shot PBT keycaps anytime soon ? European versions of it are delivered with ABS cheap plastics ... And I did not know about it before buying it (French ISO here).
If you have any insights or news about it, I would glad to hear some.

ASUS does have a PBT double shot key cap set for ROG RX switches.

The ROG Claymore II can have Red or Blue RX switches, this should be compatible with both.

Hello i have the claymore ii and today i update someting of the keyboard in armoury crate but after finishing this apper is ok?

In the claymore ii section device in armoury crate in firmware update show this

that looks like downgrade version, that's why I'm here to ask if it's okay to update?

Hey Nate, the "g" problem isnt solved yet, I will give more time on it later, I can afford not to use Aurasync and just a regular backlighting for now.

However, I know that Asus have a double PBT set for the claymore II, BUT where am I suppose to buy it ? I didnt find any retailers selling it so far in Europe/France.
Besides, it is only US/UK layouts (for now), I hope they will release some different European layouts at some points, many customers are complaining about it on reddit (germans/french etc...)

Do you know where and how can I buy that Keycaps set by any chance ?

Hi DarkHorus,

Yes, it looks like you have some updates.

Be sure to have the cable connected to your ROG Caymore II and to your laptop, make sure the switch is set to RF 2.4GHz wireless mode. Connect the wireless dongle to your laptop.

Then click "Update All" in Armoury Crate.

I tried to update but as soon i connect the RF 2.4ghz the update disspear.

and looks like the update was for keypad firmware but i have more update version 2.00.01 and the update in armoury crate showed 1.00.14 that is definetly older version. Looks like armoury crate bugged a litle bit not sure why but now is fixed.

And u know when the PBT keycaps for rx switches goes available for NA? at this moments is only selling in china and an option for buy in UK amazon with pbt keycaps but no to buy separately the keycaps

Before the update, it was showing Device Firmware version 1.00.14 as it was the current version.

All looks good after the update, you can can click "Check for Updates" once more to see if it finds any.

This key cap set is compatible with the ROG Claymore II, check your regional online ASUS store.
